Spontaneous isolated superior mesenteric artery dissection (SISMAD) is a rare cause of acute abdominal pain, but could potentially be fatal to patients, and should be recognized soon in the emergency department after excluding other common causes. Computed tomography (CT) is the modality of choice for initial diagnosis and follow-up. Currently there is no evidence-based guidelines for managing SISMAD.

Objective: To establish reference values for the 6-minute walk test (6MWT) and 2-minute walk test (2MWT) distances, to investigate the correlation between these 2 tests, and to establish prediction equations for these distances in healthy populations of Belgium and Vietnam.

Design: Cross-sectional study.

Subjects And Methods: The 6MWT and 2MWT were administered to a convenience sample of 239 Belgian and 303 Vietnamese participants between the ages of 18 and 80 years.

Introduction: Acute appendicitis (AA) is one of the most common surgical emergencies, with a lifetime risk estimated at 7-8%. Pregnant women with appendicitis can have a difficult diagnosis because many signs and symptoms could overlap with other causes of acute abdominal pain. Although magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is not contraindicated at all gestational ages for units with a field strength of three Tesla or less, there is still much discussion regarding the best protocol to follow in order to minimize survey time and maximize diagnostic efficiency.

The study aims to evaluate the impacts of high-performance human resource management practices on firm performance through the mediating variable of innovation. The research model was developed and integrated from high-performance human resource management theory, innovation, and firm performance. The analysis results from 312 enterprises in industrial and service sectors indicated that high-performance human resource management practices had an indirect impact on firm performance and a direct effect on innovation.

The goal of this study was to identify the presence of microplastics on the beach near a refinery in the central coast of Vietnam. In this study, 11 sampling sites were selected within a length of 300 m of the beach. The results showed that microplastics were presented in all collected samples with an average concentration of 1582 ± 660 MPs/kg.

Human skin needs additional protection from damaging ultraviolet radiation (UVR: 280-400 nm). Harmful UVR exposure leads to DNA damage and the development of skin cancer. Available sunscreens offer chemical protection from detrimental sun radiation to a certain extent.

This study focuses on determination of quantity, shape, size and polymer types of microplastics in Pacific oysters (Crassostrea gigas) cultured in Danang Bay, Vietnam. Visual verification and chemical identification of microplastics was carried out by μFT-IR spectra using Nicolet iN10 MX Infrared Imaging Microscope. The average abundance of microplastic in oysters was 1.

With technology scaling, maintaining the reliability of dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) has become more challenging. Therefore, on-die error correction codes have been introduced to accommodate reliability issues in DDR5. However, the current solution still suffers from high overhead when a large DRAM capacity is used to deliver high performance.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on Influenza A viruses of swine (IAV-S) in Vietnam, aiming to understand the causes of subclinical respiratory disease in pigs.
  • Researchers collected 7034 nasal swabs from healthy pigs across 250 farms and found a notable isolation rate of IAV-S, particularly among younger pigs aged 3 weeks to 4.5 months.
  • Larger pig populations, especially in corporate farms, were linked to higher rates of IAV-S, indicating that these settings may facilitate virus reassortment, highlighting the need for ongoing surveillance to better manage the disease.
