Background: Isocitrate dehydrogenase-1 (IDH1) mutation is now an established early event in gliomagenesis. The ability to detect this mutation by several techniques including immunohistochemistry makes it a significant marker for diagnosing and prognosticating gliomas. This study was done to assess the expression of mutant IDH1 in different grades of gliomas and evaluate its utility in differentiating reactive gliosis from glioma and defining surgical margins of these tumors in the operative specimens.

Till now Ki-67 LI has emerged as a well-studied proliferation marker that aids in tumor grading, but labeling index alone cannot predict overall survival in gliomas. P21 activated kinase 1 (PAK1) - a serine/threonine kinase has been shown to function as downstream nodule for various oncogenic signaling pathways that promote neoplastic changes.

We report a 50-year-old female presenting with a soft tissue mass in the right palm. On examination, a single firm and non tender swelling was noticed adjacent to the thenar muscles.

Metastasis-associated protein 1 (MTA1) is an upstream modulator of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH), the rate-limiting enzyme in dopamine synthesis, and hence MTA1 plays a significant role in PD pathogenesis. To impart functional and clinical significance to MTA1, we analyzed MTA1 and TH levels in the substantia nigra region of a large cohort of human brain tissue samples by Western blotting, quantitative PCR, and immunohistochemistry.

Review of literature on quality evaluation studies pertaining to histopathology revealed that earlier reports were mainly focused on analytical aspects with limited studies on assessment of pre-analytical phase. Pre-analytical phase encompasses several processing steps and handling of specimen/sample by multiple individuals, thus allowing enough scope for errors.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of bronchial wash cytology in the diagnosis of bronchopulmonary lesions and assess the role of morphometry in categorizing dysplastic/malignant lesions.
Materials And Methods: All cases of bronchial wash cytology received from January 2006 to June 2010 were retrieved and reviewed.
Malignant proliferating trichilemmal tumour is a rare cutaneous malignant neoplasm usually occurring in elderly women. We present a case of malignant trichilemmal tumour in a young lady of 26 years of age with a previous history of proliferating trichilemmal tumour at the same site.

Various factors influence the diagnostic accuracy of these procedures. This study was conducted to evaluate reasons for discordant case results in neurosurgical intraoperative consultations and make a comparative analysis of these two commonly used methods to identify the possible pitfalls, errors, and limitations.

Background: To evaluate the relative chemopreventive efficacy of two black tea polyphenols, Polyphenon-B [P-B] and BTF-35 on 7,12-dimethylbenz [a]anthracene (DMBA)-induced hamster buccal pouch (HBP) carcinogenesis.
Methods: Hamsters were divided into 6 groups. The right buccal pouches of animals in groups 1-3 were painted with 0.

Background: Chemoprevention by dietary constituents has emerged as a novel approach to control stomach cancer incidence. We therefore evaluated the chemopreventive effects of black tea polyphenols (Polyphenon-B) on oxidant-antioxidant status, cell proliferation, apoptosis, and angiogenesis during N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG)-induced gastric carcinogenesis.
Methods: Male Wistar rats were divided into four groups.
Objective: Chemoprevention by dietary constituents has emerged as a novel approach to control oral cancer incidence. We therefore evaluated the chemopreventive efficacy of bovine milk lactoferrin (bLF) on 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA)-induced hamster buccal pouch (HBP) carcinogenesis.
Methods: Hamsters were divided into four groups.
Combination chemoprevention using tea polyphenols as one of the components has received growing consideration in recent years. The present study was designed to evaluate the antiproliferative and apoptosis inducing effects of bovine lactoferrin (bLF) and black tea polyphenol (Polyphenon-B: P-B) combination on 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA)-induced hamster buccal pouch (HBP) carcinogenesis. Topical application of DMBA for 14 weeks induced buccal pouch tumours that showed aberrant expression of cytokeratins, a marker for epithelial carcinomas.
