A challenging task in routine practice is finding the distinction between benign and malignant paragangliomas and pheochromocytomas. The aim of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis of angiogenesis by assessing intratumoral microvascular density (MVD) with immunohistochemical (IHC) markers (CD31, CD34, CD105, ERG), and S100 immunoreactivity, Ki67 proliferative index, succinate dehydrogenase B (SDHB) expressiveness, tumor size with one the most utilized score Pheochromocytoma of Adrenal Gland Scales Score (PASS), using tissue microarray (TMA) with 115 tumor samples, 61 benign (PASS < 4) and 54 potentially malignant (PASS ≥ 4). We found no notable difference between intratumoral MVD and potentially malignant behavior.

Up to date, no validated biomarkers are included in clinical guidelines for the screening and follow up of patients suffering from RCC. Slug (Snail2) and Snail (Snail1) belong to the Snail superfamily of zinc finger transcriptional factors that take part in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition, a process important during embryogenesis but also involved in tumor progression.

It has been suggested that the vast overabundance of mitochondria, as a well-known hallmark of eosinophilic cytoplasm, and could be a characteristic of distinct tumor types with opposing clinical outcomes. Thus, we intended to explore the associations between mitochondrial distribution patterns in different RCTs, including 43 cell renal cell carcinomas (ccRCCs), 15 papillary renal cell carcinomas (pRCCs), 20 chromophobe renal cell carcinomas (chRCCs), and 18 renal oncocytomas (ROs).

Trace elements assessment has emerged as a useful strategy in the diagnostics of MTC combined with Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) and Tissue Inhibitors of Matrix Metalloproteinases (TIMPs) analysis. The aim of this study was to compare the presence and content of trace elements (i.

In order to investigate expression of PAX8 transcription factor in acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney diseases (CKD), immunohistochemical analysis was performed. Presence, location and extent of PAX8 expression were analyzed among 31 human kidney samples of AKI (25 autopsy cases, 5 kidney biopsies with unknown etiology and 1 AKI with confirmed myoglobin cast nephropathy), as well as in animals with induced postischemic AKI.

Material And Methods: A prospective study included 52 patients with advanced laryngeal carcinoma surgically treated at the tertiary referral center. Tumor tissue was immunohistochemically stained for T-cell markers (CD4 and CD8), and levels of cytokines (IL-6 and IL-8) and C-reactive protein were analyzed from blood samples.
Ectopic thyroid tissue is a rare pathological finding bellow the diaphragm and extremely rare finding is ectopic thyroid tissue in the adrenal gland (ETTAG). Thyroid tissue can be located anywhere along the way of embryological migration pathway of thyroglossal duct. In most cases of ectopic thyroid tissue, it is located in the neck.

Objective: The objective of this work is to investigate a large cohort spNETs or MEN1 patients for changes in the ARMC5 gene.
Previous evidence suggested that lymphocytic thyroiditis (LT) was a variant of Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT), thus the aim of the current study is to quantify structural changes in histological specimens taken from HT and LT patients. A total of 600 images containing a single lymphocyte nucleus (300 nuclei per group) were obtained from 20 patients with HT and LT. In order to quantify changes in the nuclear architecture of investigated lymphocytes, the fractal dimension (FD) and some gray-level co-occurrence matrix texture parameters (angular second moment, inverse difference moment, contrast, entropy, and correlation) were calculated for each nucleus.

The study was conducted during the period between 1996 and 2010 and included 30 patients with ACC. Immunohistochemical staining (MMP9, melan A, inhibin, caltretinin, D2-40, synaptophysin and Ki-67) was performed.

A 32-year-old man presented to our emergency department because of sudden onset of severe headache. He had a six-month history of paroxysmal headache, palpitations, and sweating.

The aim of our study was to present the demographic and clinical characteristics of patients with ACC, to determine the overall survival rates, analyse the effect of prognostic factors on survival, as well as to identify favorable and unfavourable predictors of survival.
Method: The study included 72 patients (42 women and 30 men) with ACC.
Normal pituitary tissue is frequently used for comparison with protein expression in tumor tissue, being obtained either at surgery or at autopsy. p16 and p21 proteins are cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors, belonging to INK4 and Cip/Kip family, respectively. Their expression is increased in response to DNA damage or other cellular stressors, resulting in the activation of cell cycle checkpoints.

In recent decades, the incidence of RCC has been steadily rising by 2-4% each year. In this study NCAM expression and correlation with nuclear grade in different RCC were analyzed.
