Background: Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have significantly improved treatment-related outcomes of patients with oncogene-driven non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). TKIs are usually well tolerated and used for a prolonged time, although experienced toxicity varies between patients. It is unclear whether patients report all (low grade) toxicities and how these impact their daily lives.

This paper reviews the literature relevant to the underlying neurobiology of psychosis. The dopamine hypothesis has been a major influence in the study of the neurochemistry of psychosis and in development of antipsychotic drugs.

Background: Major depressive disorder is the leading cause of mental health-related burden globally and up to one-third of major depressive disorder patients never achieve remission. Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation is a non-invasive intervention used to treat individuals diagnosed with major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder. Since the last transcranial direct current stimulation review specifically focusing on cognitive symptoms in major depressive disorder, twice as many papers have been published.

Despite good BM-related outcomes of osimertinib, several patients still experience intracranial progression. A possible explanation is pharmacologic failure due to low plasma trough levels (C) and consequently limited intracranial osimertinib exposure.

In this study, methylene blue (MB) pollutant in water was removed using produced hazelnut shell loaded semi-interpenetrating polymer networks (HS loaded semi-IPN) adsorbent. The physical and chemical characterizations of the adsorbents were investigated using TGA, DSC, FT-IR, BET, FE-SEM, and EDX. Experimental parameters such as temperature, swelling, dye concentration, contact time, pH solution, and adsorbent dosage for MB adsorption were thoroughly investigated.

Intensity modulated proton therapy (IMPT) results in different doses to organs than intensity modulated photon therapy (IMRT). We investigated whether IMPT compared to IMRT reduce hematological toxicity and whether it affects durvalumab treatment.

A total of 16 healthy adult Van cats of both sexes were used. The stifle joints of the cats were scanned with a CT device and images were obtained.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFOsimertinib is prescribed to patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and a sensitizing EGFR mutation. Limited data exists on the impact of patient characteristics or osimertinib exposure on effectiveness outcomes. This was a Dutch, multicenter cohort study.

Although guidelines increasingly advise adding local radical treatment (LRT) to patients with synchronous oligometastatic (sOMD) NSCLC responding to systemic therapy, this recommendation is based on the studies without ICI. Furthermore, the majority of published oligometastatic studies were not on an intention-to-treat basis, resulting in selection bias.

Skeletal-related events (SREs) are common in these patients; however, no data on SRE in osimertinib-treated patients are reported. We investigated the development of bone metastases and SREs in patients with NSCLC treated with osimertinib.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOpioid addiction is characterized by adaptations in the mesolimbic dopamine system that occur during chronic opioid use. Alterations in dopaminergic transmission contribute to pathological drug-seeking behavior and other symptoms associated with opioid withdrawal following drug discontinuation, making drug abstinence challenging and contributing to high rates of relapse among those suffering from substance use disorder. Recently, the use of dopamine partial agonists has been proposed as a potential strategy to restore dopaminergic signalling during drug withdrawal, while avoiding the adverse side effects associated with stronger modulators of dopaminergic transmission.

Other research has indicated that the gut microbiome-immune system- brain axis is involved in a large number of disorders and that this axis is affected by various stressors. The focus of the current review is on the following stress-related disorders: generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessivecompulsive disorder.

In this study, a hazelnut shell (HS) filled semi-interpenetrating polymer networks (semi-IPN) biocomposite adsorbent with novel and different compositions was developed that will enable the removal of lead ions, which are commonly found in water, by adsorption reactions. The structural and morphological properties of the produced adsorbents were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, TGA, DSC, BET, FE-SEM, EDX, and zeta potential measurements, and the production mechanism of these adsorbents was discussed. The effects of parameters such as different adsorbent dosages, different heavy metal concentrations, type of adsorbent, contact time, pH, and temperature on the swelling abilities and adsorption properties of adsorbents were investigated in detail.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAyahuasca is a psychoactive brew traditionally used in indigenous and religious rituals and ceremonies in South America for its therapeutic, psychedelic, and entheogenic effects. It is usually prepared by lengthy boiling of the leaves of the bush and the mashed stalks of the vine in water. The former contains the classical psychedelic N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT), which is thought to be the main psychoactive alkaloid present in the brew.

The aim was to assess plasma miRNA profiles during the peri-implantation and ascertain potential candidate miRNA markers for early pregnancy diagnosis in ovine plasma. The plasma samples were obtained from a total of 24 ewes on days 12 (pre-implantation; P12, = 4), 16 (implantation; P16, = 4) and 22 (post-implantation; P22, = 4) after mating, and on their corresponding days of 12 (Pre-C; C12, = 4), 16 (Imp-C; C16, = 4) and 22 (Post-C; C22, = 4) of the estrous cycle.

Although results are still preliminary, ketamine and classical hallucinogens have shown promise in recent years as novel, fast-acting antidepressants, especially for the treatment of unipolar treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Depression also seems to be related to abnormal levels of peripheral inflammatory and neurotrophic biomarkers, which may one day help to diagnose of this disorder. In this context, this systematic review of clinical trials evaluated the current evidence that relates the antidepressant effects of ketamine and classical hallucinogens on TRD with changes in inflammatory and neurotrophic biomarkers.
