Chronic non-bacterial osteomyelitis (CNO) is an inflammatory bone disease, usually diagnosed in childhood. It is characterized by the presence of multifocal or unifocal osteolytic lesions that can cause bone pain and soft tissue swelling. CNO is known to have soft tissue involvement.

The effect of eating motivation on adherence to the Mediterranean diet, glycemia and lipid profile in individuals with type 2 diabetes.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of eating motivation on Mediterranean diet adherence, glycemia and lipid profile in individuals with type 2 diabetes. A questionnaire consisting of general information, eating motivation scale and Mediterranean diet adherence scale was applied to 400 individuals with diabetes. Height, weight, plasma glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein and high density lipoprotein values were measured.

Piceatannol induces caspase-dependent apoptosis by modulating intracellular reactive oxygen species/mitochondrial membrane potential and enhances autophagy in neuroblastoma cells.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the anticancer effects of piceatannol, a natural stilbenoid, on human neuroblastoma cells. In order to accomplish this goal, we performed various cellular assays, including the XTT cell proliferation assay for cell viability, colony formation assay for colony formation capacity, FITC Annexin V and cell death detection kit for apoptosis, matrigel invasion assay for invasion capacity, intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) red dye for intracellular ROS levels, TMRM staining method for mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), and the CYTO-ID autophagy detection kit for autophagy. Furthermore, we analyzed the expression levels of genes associated with apoptosis and autophagy using RT-qPCR.

Magnetic resonance imaging based kidney volume assessment for risk stratification in pediatric autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.

Introduction: In the pediatric context, most children with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) maintain a normal glomerular filtration rate (GFR) despite underlying structural kidney damage, highlighting the critical need for early intervention and predictive markers. Due to the inverse relationship between kidney volume and kidney function, risk assessments have been presented on the basis of kidney volume. The aim of this study was to use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based kidney volume assessment for risk stratification in pediatric ADPKD and to investigate clinical and genetic differences among risk groups.

TASL Practice Guidance on the Clinical Assessment and Management of Patients with Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a multisystem disease and is significantly associated with obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular disease. NAFLD has become the most prevalent chronic liver disease in Western countries, and the proportion of NAFLD-related cirrhosis among patients on liver transplantation waiting lists has increased. In light of the accumulated data about NAFLD, and to provide a common approach with multi-disciplines dealing with the subject, it has become necessary to create new guidance for diagnosing and treating NAFLD.

Kinesiophobia and Associated Factors in Patients With Myocardial Infarction.

Kinesiophobia is a well-known barrier to positive clinical outcomes among patients with various diseases, but there remain few comprehensive studies of kinesiophobia among patients with myocardial infarction (MI). In this cross-sectional study, we investigated the presence of kinesiophobia and its relationship with clinical outcomes among 42 patients with MI who completed the Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia Swedish Version for Heart (TSK-SV Heart) the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-SF), the Six-Minute Walk Test (6MWT), the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), the modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) Dyspnea Scale, the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI), and the MacNew Heart Disease Health-Related Quality of Life Questionnaire. The participants' mean TSK-SV Heart score was 39.

Evaluation of urinary haptoglobin level as a biomarker of diabetic nephropathy in children with type 1 diabetes.

Background: Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is a common endocrine disease in children. Early recognition of complications of T1DM is important for preventing long-term morbidity and mortality. We aimed to investigate whether urinary haptoglobin level is a biomarker of diabetic nephropathy in children with T1DM.

Case Report: Novel Pathogenic Variant Detected in Two Siblings with Type 1 Gaucher Disease.

Background: Gaucher disease (GD) is an autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disease. The disease develops due to glucocerebrosidase enzyme deficiency caused by biallelic pathogenic variants in the glucosylceramidase beta 1 (GBA1) gene, which encodes the glucocerebrosidase enzyme. The GBA1 gene is located at chromosomal location 1q22 and consists of 11 exons.

COVID-19 in pediatric nephrology centers in Turkey.

Background/aim: There is limited data on COVID-19 disease in children with kidney disease. We aimed to investigate the characteristics and prognosis of COVID-19 in pediatric nephrology patients in Turkey.

Materials And Methods: This was a national, multicenter, retrospective cohort study based on an online survey evaluating the data between 11 March 2020 and 11 March 2021 as an initial step of a detailed pediatric nephrology COVID-19 registry.

Characterization of peripheral blood T follicular helper (TFH) cells in patients with type 1 Gaucher disease and carriers.

Background: Gaucher disease (GD) is the most common autosomal recessive lipid storage disease. In this study, the changes in TFH cells and IL-4 and IL-21 cytokines in blood samples of GD patients, carriers and healthy volunteers were investigated.

Methods: Two pretreatment type 1 GD patients, 20 currently treated type 1 GD patients, 6 carriers, and 27 healthy volunteers were enrolled in the study.

Serum copeptin as a biomarker of hypertension in children with obesity.

Background: Hypertension (HT) in obesity has been reported frequently in children in recent years. The role of copeptin and uric acid here are not well known. We aimed to investigate the relationship between HT and serum copeptin and uric acid levels in children with obesity.

Composition Analysis of and Its Effects on Colon Cancer Cells.

Background: The success of drug treatment of colon cancer (CC), which is in the top three in terms of incidence and mortality among all cancers, is adversely affected by reasons, such as severe side effects and chemoresistance. Clinical, epidemiological and experimental studies have indicated the need for developing new alternative drugs for the treatment of CC. Plants are an important source of traditional medicines that have proven to be highly beneficial for the treatment of CC.

Background: Piceatannol is a naturally occurring plant-derived phenolic compound (stilbenoid), an analogue of resveratrol. It has been shown that, piceatannol has biological activity properties such as antiproliferative, antioxidative, anti-inflammatory and proapoptotic, in various human cancer studies in vitro and in vivo.

Objectives And Methods: In this study, it was aimed to investigate whether piceatannol induces apoptosis through anticancer activity methods (cell viability, colony formation, annexin-V/7-AAD, ROS (Reactive oxygen species), MMP (Mitochondrial membrane potential), wound healing, invasion assay, RT-qPCR (Real-Time Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction), western blotting in PANC-1 and MIA PaCa-2 pancreatic cancer (PC) cell lines.

Oxidative and chromosomal DNA damage in patients with type I Gaucher disease and carriers.

Background And Aims: Gaucher disease (GD) is caused by a genetic deficiency of the beta-glucocerebrosidase enzyme which results in the accumulation of glucosylceramide in macrophages. This accumulation may induce oxidative stress, resulting in DNA damage in patients with GD. The aim of this study was to assess plasma 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) levels and cytokinesis-block micronucleus cytome (CBMN-cyt) assay parameters in the peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients with GD and carriers, evaluate the possible associations of these values with GD, and determine whether they can be used as potential biomarkers in GD.

Case Report: A Novel Mutation Leading to 11-β Hydroxylase Deficiency in a Female Patient.

Background: 11β hydroxylase deficiency (11βOHD) ranks as the second most common enzyme deficiency that causes congenital adrenal hyperplasia. The aim of this study was to determine possible anticancer effect of tomentosin, a natural sesquiterpene lactone, on pancreatic cancer cells.
