Gender disparities persist among medical subspecialty societies, including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH). Surgical subspecialties in particular have lagged behind other medical specialties with respect to the number of women in training and practice. Orthopedic surgery, one of the surgical subspecialties making up hand surgery, has the lowest percentage of female residents and faculty among medical subspecialties.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify associations between the clinical manifestations of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) and the sonographic measurements of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel. We hypothesized that sonographic changes in the median nerve from proximal to distal along the carpal tunnel would be associated with symptom severity scores.

Methods: We report on 38 patients with clinical signs and symptoms of CTS in a prospective investigation.

Background:  The limited and inconsistent literature exists on survival and secondary surgery following lower limb replantation. The purpose of this study was to review our institutional experience in lower extremity replantation to quantify survival and characterize secondary surgeries.
