Purpose: To assess the usefulness of the novel CARWL index in predicting radiation-induced tooth loss (RITL) rates in locally advanced nasopharyngeal cancer (LA-NPC) patients undergoing concurrent chemoradiotherapy (C-CRT).

Methods: The study retrospectively examined data from 323 LA-NPC patients. The patients were divided into two groups based on cutoff values for CAR and weight loss (WL).

Article Synopsis
  • The study involved 126 patients with locally advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma (LAPAC) undergoing concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT), analyzing their neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) from blood tests conducted at treatment's end.
  • Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis identified an NLR cutoff of 3.1, splitting patients into two significantly different survival outcome groups.
  • Findings revealed that patients with an NLR ≥3.1 had notably shorter overall survival and distant metastasis-free survival rates, indicating that a higher NLR may predict poor prognosis in these patients.

Kaposi sarcoma and cutaneous angiosarcoma are rare forms of skin malignancies that are vascular in nature and are frequently encountered in the immunosuppressed population. Although synchronous angiosarcoma and Kaposi sarcoma have been documented, to our knowledge, the coexistence of these vascular malignancies with underlying chronic lymphocytic leukemia has not been previously reported. A 51-year-old male patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia presented with Kaposi sarcoma located on his left ankle.

Background: Corticotroph adenoma delineation in Cushing's disease (CD) patients with previous surgery can be challenging. This study investigated the outcome of whole-sellar gamma knife radiosurgery (GKRS) in MRI-negative, but hormone-active CD patients with prior failed treatment attempts.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data of nine CD cases who underwent whole-sellar GKRS between April 2008 and April 2020 at a single center.

Purpose: Radiotherapy is a treatment method performed using ionizing radiation on cancer patients either alone or with surgery and/or chemotherapy. Although modern radiotherapy techniques provide a significant advantage in protecting healthy tissues, it is inevitable that normal tissues are also located in the areas targeted by radiations. In this study, we aimed to examine the bone mineral density changes in bone structures commonly included in the irradiated area such as, L5 vertebra, sacrum, and femur heads, in patients who have received pelvic radiotherapy; and the relationship between these changes with radiation dose.

Introduction: Among head and neck cancers, those of the oral cavity and oropharynx are the second most prevalent following the larynx. This study aimed to research immunohistochemical expression of survivin, HPV positivity and microvessel density in tumors and their relationships with prognosis.

Material And Methods: Pathological materials and demographic properties of 46 patients were retrospectively evaluated.
