Spin-current generation via the anisotropic spin-split effect has been predicted in antiferromagnetic RuO, where the symmetry of RuO plays a critical role in spin-orbit torque (SOT). This phenomenon has garnered attention for its potential to enable energy-efficient spintronic devices, such as SOT magnetic random-access memory. In this study, a high-quality RuO (100) epitaxial film with a well-controlled triple-domain-structure is analyzed, and it is confirmed that out-of-plane spin-current generation is independent of the Néel vector ( ).

A rare case of acute respiratory distress syndrome due to chlorine gas inhalation: Rapid progression with favorable ICU outcome.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) secondary to chlorine gas inhalation is a rare yet critical condition that can lead to severe respiratory failure if not managed promptly. This case report presents a 43-year-old male who developed ARDS after accidental exposure to chlorine gas during pool maintenance. The patient's condition deteriorated rapidly, with symptoms progressing to acute pulmonary edema and severe hypoxemia, requiring immediate transfer to the intensive care unit (ICU).

Characterization of Serum Cytokine Patterns in Frequent-Exacerbation Asthma: Implications for Phenotyping and Management.

(1) Background: Asthma exacerbations represent significant clinical events, however, the underlying inflammatory mechanisms and cytokine profiles in patients with frequent exacerbations remain incompletely understood; (2) Methods: In this prospective, cross-sectional study of 120 stable asthma patients, we compared the serum concentrations of eight key cytokines (IL-4, IL-12, IL-13, IL-17, IFN-α, IFN-γ, TNF-α, and IL-1β) between two groups: 60 patients with frequent exacerbations (≥ 2 events per year) and 60 matched controls with few exacerbations (1 event per year); (3) Results: Patients with frequent exacerbations showed significantly higher serum concentrations of IL-4 and IL-13 ( < 0.05), along with an increased prevalence of allergic history and comorbidities (chronic rhinosinusitis, GERD, OSA; all < 0.05).

Journal impact factors were devised to qualify and compare university library holdings but are frequently repurposed for use in ranking applications, research papers, and even individual applicants in mycology and beyond. The widely held assumption that mycological studies published in journals with high impact factors add more to systematic mycology than studies published in journals without high impact factors nevertheless lacks evidential underpinning. The present study uses the species hypothesis system of the UNITE database for molecular identification of fungi and other eukaryotes to trace the publication history and impact factor of sequences uncovering new fungal species hypotheses.

Gemtuzumab ozogamicin (GO) is a CD33-targeting antibody-drug conjugate approved for the treatment of CD33-positive de novo and relapsed and refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Subset analyses have demonstrated improved clinical outcomes in patients with favorable-risk disease. It is unclear whether the addition of GO to cytarabine and anthracycline chemotherapy (7+3) improves clinical outcomes compared with other conventional regimens for AML.

Glutamine dependency has been shown to be a metabolic vulnerability in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Prior studies using several in vivo AML models showed that depletion of plasma glutamine, induced by long-acting crisantaspase (pegcrisantaspase [PegC]) was synergistic with the B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2) inhibitor venetoclax (Ven), resulting in significantly reduced leukemia burden and enhanced survival. Here, we report a phase 1 study of the combination of Ven and PegC (VenPegC) for treating adult patients with relapsed or refractory AML, including patients who had previously received Ven.

The Radar for Europa Assessment and Sounding: Ocean to Near-surface (REASON) is a dual-frequency ice-penetrating radar (9 and 60 MHz) onboard the Europa Clipper mission. REASON is designed to probe Europa from exosphere to subsurface ocean, contributing the third dimension to observations of this enigmatic world. The hypotheses REASON will test are that (1) the ice shell of Europa hosts liquid water, (2) the ice shell overlies an ocean and is subject to tidal flexing, and (3) the exosphere, near-surface, ice shell, and ocean participate in material exchange essential to the habitability of this moon.

Disentangling periodic and aperiodic resting EEG correlates of personality.

Previous studies of resting electroencephalography (EEG) correlates of personality traits have conflated periodic and aperiodic sources of EEG signals. Because these are associated with different underlying neural dynamics, disentangling them can avoid measurement confounds and clarify findings. In a large sample (n = 300), we investigated how disentangling these activities impacts findings related to two research programs within personality neuroscience.

The market for commercially produced complementary foods (CPCF) is rapidly expanding in Southeast Asia; however, the existence and content of mandatory national policies, standards and legislation (binding legal measures) for CPCF in the region is unclear. To assess the status of national binding legal measures for CPCF in Southeast Asia, a legal and policy desk review was conducted in seven countries (Cambodia, Laos People's Democratic Republic, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam). The alignment of the national binding legal measures relevant to CPCF was assessed against guidance on CPCF nutrient composition and labelling requirements provided by Codex Alimentarius and the World Health Organization (WHO).

First foods in a packaged world: Results from the COMMIT consortium to protect young child diets in Southeast Asia.

Although commercially produced complementary foods (CPCFs) are increasingly sold throughout Southeast Asia, concerns have been raised about CPCFs nutritional quality, labelling practices and the strength and scope of national CPCF regulations. The Consortium for Improving Complementary Foods in Southeast Asia (COMMIT), composed of UN agencies and civil society organizations, was formed to assess the nutrient gap in the diets of young children and the consumer, product and policy landscapes for CPCFs in seven Southeast Asian countries. Results from a nutrient gap assessment indicate that the diets of children aged 6-23 months are suboptimal and deficient in micronutrients.

Introduction: Olanzapine use for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) in hematological malignancies, for multi-day chemotherapy, and with a steroid-sparing antiemetic strategy is poorly understood. This study investigated if olanzapine is associated with improved prevention of CINV when added to a steroid-sparing antiemetic regimen in patients with acute leukemia receiving intensive, moderately emetogenic, multi-day chemotherapy.

Methods: This was a single-center, retrospective cohort study in patients with acute leukemia.

Promoting Respectful Maternity Care by Reducing Unnecessary Episiotomies: Experiences from Centers of Excellence for Breastfeeding in Vietnam.

(1) Background: Routine episiotomy is not recommended by international guidelines; however, it occurs at a high rate in Vietnam. (2) Methods: A process to reduce unnecessary episiotomies was developed and implemented as part of the Centers of Excellence for Breastfeeding initiative, which aims to deliver high-quality breastfeeding and early essential newborn care services within a supportive policy environment. The aim of this project report is to outline the steps undertaken to reduce episiotomies, the experience in pilot hospitals, and the process towards changing policy.

Acceptability and Usability of the Family Gene Toolkit for Swiss and Korean Families Harboring Pathogenic Variants: A Web-Based Platform for Cascade Genetic Testing.

The study adapted the Family Gene Toolkit and developed a customized web application for Swiss and Korean families harboring or pathogenic variants to support family communication of genetic testing results and promote cascade genetic testing among at-risk relatives. In the first step, narrative data from 68 women with / pathogenic variants and clinician feedback informed a culturally sensitive adaptation of the content consistent with current risk management guidelines. In the second step, the Information Technology team developed the functions and the interface of the web application that will host the intervention.

Unveiling Fungal Community Structure along Different Levels of Anthropic Disturbance in a South American Subtropical Lagoon.

Studies of fungal communities through amplicon metagenomics in aquatic environments, particularly in freshwater ecosystems, are still relatively recent. Unfortunately, many of these water bodies are facing growing threats from human expansion, such as effluent discharge from various human activities. As a result, these effluents have the potential to significantly alter the characteristics of water bodies and, subsequently, impact the diversity of their resident microorganisms.
