Skeletal metastasis is a multistage process, with primary stages of circulating tumour cells, progressing to a dormant state in vasculature and bone marrow niches, followed by tumorigenic reactivation, proliferation, and finally bone destruction. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic affected hundreds of millions of people and lives, and vaccination was the safest and most effective strategy to prevent and mitigate the burden of this disease. The implementation of COVID-19 vaccination in Vietnam in 2021 was unprecedentedly challenging in scale and complexity, yet economic evidence on the cost of delivery vaccines thought the program was lacking.

Biocalorimetry-aided monitoring of fungal pretreatment of lignocellulosic agricultural residues.

The present study aimed to investigate whether and how non-invasive biocalorimetric measurements could serve for process monitoring of fungal pretreatment during solid-state fermentation (SSF) of lignocellulosic agricultural residues such as wheat straw. Seven filamentous fungi representing different lignocellulose decay types were employed. Water-soluble sugars being immediately available after fungal pretreatment and those becoming water-extractable after enzymatic digestion of pretreated wheat straw with hydrolysing (hemi)cellulases were considered to constitute the total bioaccessible sugar fraction.

Spatio-temporal characterization of drought variability in data-scarce regions using global precipitation data: a case study in Cauto river basin, Cuba.

Drought is considered the most severe water-related disaster in the Cauto river basin, which is the longest river and the main agricultural producer in Cuba. Better understanding of drought characteristics is crucial to drought management. Given the sparsity of ground-based precipitation observations in the Cauto, this study aims at using gridded global precipitation to analyze the spatio-temporal variations of drought in this river basin.

The Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc) is the number one bacterial complex associated with contaminated Finished Pharmaceutical Products (FPPs). This has resulted in multiple healthcare related infection morbidity and mortality events in conjunction with significant FPP recalls globally. Current microbiological quality control of FPPs before release for distribution depends on lengthy, laborious, non-specific, traditional culture-dependent methods which lack sensitivity.

Background: As cannabis policy trends toward liberalization, assessing cannabis health warning effects becomes increasingly important. This study investigated underlying mechanisms accounting for the effectiveness of cannabis health warnings on protective health intentions.

Method: A sample of 1,095 adults (21+) living in legal recreational US states who reported using cannabis in the past 12 months participated in an online experiment.
