However, the performance of targeted next-generation sequencing (tNGS) in the detection of pathogens associated with CAP in children remains unclear.
Methods: In this study, 216 children diagnosed with CAP were enrolled, and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) samples underwent detection through tNGS, culture, and multiplex quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR).
Background: Acute neuroinflammatory and oxidative-stress (OS)-inducing stressors, such as high energy and charge (HZE) particle irradiation, produce accelerated aging in the brain. Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant foods, such as blueberries (BB), attenuate neuronal and cognitive deficits when administered to rodents before or both before and after HZE particle exposure. We developed and fielded a brief survey to harmonize Likert and continuous versions of measures for two constructs, self-rated health and self-rated memory, for use in studies of French older adults.
Methods: We recruited 300 participants from a French memory clinic in 2023 to answer both the Likert and continuous versions of self-rated health and self-rated memory questions.
Background: The rupture of intracranial aneurysms (IAs) leads to aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH), which is associated with significant disability and mortality rates. This study aims to identify metabolic markers causally linked to the occurrence of IAs and aSAH through Mendelian randomization (MR), thereby offering novel predictive and therapeutic targets.
Methods: We conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) on IAs and aSAH, analyzing 1,400 metabolomic indices from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) cohort (n = 8,299).

Herein, we report the purification and characterization of a novel single Kunitz domain inhibitor (Sibanin) from the salivary glands of the black fly Simulium bannaense.
