Effects of C addition on the microstructures of as-cast Cu-Fe-P (mass fraction) alloys were systematically investigated. The results show that C addition can refine the matrix microstructure and make Fe particles finer. The Fe particles observed in both the non-C-alloyed and C-alloyed specimens are α-Fe particles, which possess a body-centered cubic (bcc) structure with a Nishiyama-Wassermann orientation relationship with the matrix.

Recycling coated hardmetal scraps is becoming increasingly important for tungsten resource recovery. However, the coatings in these materials are one of the biggest problems, especially Al-containing coatings. In this study, discarded TiAlN-coated WC-Co hardmetal tool tips were isothermally oxidized at 900 °C in air, during which the final oxide, phase transition and microstructure evolution were investigated.

The coating is one of the biggest problems in the recycling of coated multicomponent hardmetal scraps. The isothermal oxidation behavior of WC-Co multicomponent cemented carbide inserts with a TiCN/Al₂O₃/TiN hard coating in the recycling process was investigated. The oxidation rate slowed down as the protective coating blocked element diffusion.
