Introduction: Dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVF) are abnormal anastomoses between meningeal arteries and dural venous sinuses. Typically, dAVF treatment involves an endovascular or microsurgical approach. Anterior ethmoidal artery (AEA) dAVFs pose unique challenges due to their anatomy and location.

This study aimed to elicit the most salient issues for patients living with and undergoing treatment for Dupuytren disease, as well as for the hand surgeons, occupational therapists, and physical therapists caring for these patients.
Methods: A qualitative, interpretive description study employing one-on-one semi-structured interviews was conducted.
Background: A large body of evidence links stressful life events with depression. However, little is understood about the role of perceived impact in this association.
Methods: We performed regression analysis to investigate whether self-reported stress reactivity (derived by regressing the impact-weighted life event score on the unweighted score) moderated the association between stressful life events and depressive symptoms in adolescents from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children cohort (n = 4791), controlling for age at outcome, sex, ethnicity, and maternal education.
Background: Epigenetic age (EA) is an age estimate, developed using DNA methylation (DNAm) states of selected CpG sites across the genome. Although EA and chronological age are highly correlated, EA may not increase uniformly with time. Departures, known as epigenetic age acceleration (EAA), are common and have been linked to various traits and future disease risk.

Based on a dataset of 200 participants across 7 countries who received $10,000 USD, we analyzed how happy they felt from different types of purchases made with that money. Participants derived high levels of happiness from some types of purchases that have been examined in past research (e.

The primary outcome of this study was to identify the number of pilot or feasibility studies in Plastic Surgery that progressed to a definitive RCT. Secondary outcomes included a) number of pilot studies expressing feasibility statements and outcomes and b) reporting quality.

DNA methylation (DNAm) is the most commonly measured epigenetic mechanism in human populations, with most studies using Illumina arrays to assess DNAm levels. In 2023, Illumina updated their DNAm arrays to the EPIC version 2 (EPICv2), building on prior iterations, namely the EPIC version 1 (EPICv1) and 450K arrays. Whether DNAm measurements are stable across these three generations of arrays has yet not been investigated, limiting the ability of researchers-especially those with longitudinal data-to compare and replicate results across arrays.

Magnetoencephalography (MEG), an imaging modality that measures neuronal currents and cortical excitability with high temporal and superior spatial resolution, has been increasingly used in neurological research. Initial MEG studies showed promise in directly recording cortical spreading depression-a cortical correlate of migraine with aura.

Identifying these sensitive periods can inform when and how parenting is associated with neurodevelopment and risk for mental illness.
Objective: To characterize how harsh and warm parenting during early, middle, and late childhood are associated with brain architecture during adolescence and, in turn, psychiatric symptoms in early adulthood during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Background: Fasting glucose is higher in pregnancies with obesity (OB); less is known about postprandial (PP) and nocturnal patterns when the diet is eucaloric and fixed or about the continuous-glucose-monitor (CGM) metrics that predict neonatal adiposity (NB%fat). We hypothesized that continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) would reveal higher glycemia in OB vs. normal weight (NW) during (14-16 weeks) and (26-28 weeks) gestation despite macronutrient-controlled eucaloric diets and elucidate unique predictors of NB%fat.

To bridge the data obtained in animals to humans, we have developed an in situ human LN explant model to investigate how adjuvants initiate immunity. Slices of explanted LNs were exposed to vaccine adjuvants and revealed responses that were not detectable in LN cell suspensions.

Pediatric MASLD increases the risk of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis in adulthood. Early detection and intervention can prevent and reduce complications.

There is no gold-standard for how to calculate MIDs, and uptake in plastic surgery literature is currently unknown, leading to methodological and interpretation issues.
Methods: Medline and Embase were searched to identify all plastic surgery randomized controlled trials (RCTs) employing PROMs as outcomes, and MID estimation studies for PROMs used by RCTs.
Hospital-acquired falls are a continuing clinical concern. The emergence of advanced analytical methods, including NLP, has created opportunities to leverage nurse-generated data, such as clinical notes, to better address the problem of falls. In this nurse-driven study, we employed an iterative process for expert manual annotation of RNs clinical notes to enable the training and testing of an NLP pipeline to extract factors related to falls.

A survey was conducted among higher education decision-makers during spring 2020 at the moment they were adapting to COVID-19. The survey aimed to identify policies and planning measures that may help Institutions of Higher Education learn from this experience to maintain continuity of operations should similar or unanticipated events occur in the future.

Methods: This study was a secondary analysis of data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, a US-based cohort study of pre-adolescent youth in the United States (N = 10,915). Our outcome was emotional/behavioral symptoms measured by the Child Behavior Checklist.
Myhre syndrome (MS, MIM 139210) is a rare multisystemic disorder caused by recurrent pathogenic missense variants in SMAD4. The clinical features have been mainly documented in childhood and comprise variable neurocognitive development, recognizable craniofacial features, a short stature with a pseudo-muscular build, hearing loss, thickened skin, joint limitations, diverse cardiovascular and airway manifestations, and increased fibrosis often following trauma or surgery. In contrast, adults with MS are underreported obscuring potential clinical variability.

Background: Depression is a common mental health disorder that often starts during adolescence, with potentially important future consequences including 'Not in Education, Employment or Training' (NEET) status.
Methods: We took a structured life course modeling approach to examine how depressive symptoms during adolescence might be associated with later NEET status, using a high-quality longitudinal data resource. We considered four plausible life course models: (1) an where depressive symptoms in early adolescence are more associated with later NEET status relative to exposure at other stages; (2) a where depressive symptoms during the transition from compulsory education to adult life might be more deleterious regarding NEET status; (3) a , meaning that depressive symptoms around the time when most adults have completed their education and started their careers are the most strongly associated with NEET status; and (4) an which highlights the importance of chronicity of symptoms.
The purpose of this study was to examine the prevalence, predictors, and consequences of disagreement between prospective caregiver and retrospective child reports of childhood physical and emotional maltreatment. The design was a secondary analysis of data from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children, a three-decade long UK-based birth cohort. Prospective caregiver reports were in poor to fair agreement with retrospective child reports for physical and emotional maltreatment exposure, with caregivers tending to underreport exposure.
