Background: Two studies were conducted assessing the efficacy of NexGard® PLUS (NP) in preventing heartworm disease. Study 1 evaluated the efficacy of six monthly doses of NP or Simparica Trio® (ST) against a macrocyclic lactone-resistant isolate of heartworm, Dirofilaria immitis, and study 2 evaluated the efficacy of a single dose of NP against a susceptible isolate.

Methods: In two studies, dogs that were negative for heartworms by antigen test and modified Knott's test were used.

Modelling acoustic propagation in realistic ocean through a time-domain environment-resolving ocean model.

The new generation of non-hydrostatic and compressible numerical models of the ocean can explicitly simulate acoustic waves when and where space and time resolution is adapted. We show that these models can consequently propagate accurately acoustic waves and modes through a free-surface, stratified ocean evolving simultaneously both in space and time, bringing them to the state of the art of acoustic propagation modelling. To some extent, both numerical cost and memory footprint may temper their range of applications but they are an unprecedented tool to evaluate deterministically the effects of ocean variability on low-frequency acoustic propagation in a realistically-evolving ocean.

COVID-19 among lung cancer patients: Data from a real-life prospective French multicentric study.

Background: COVID-19 started to spread early in 2020, the precise year that lung cancer (LC) patients were recruited into the prospective epidemiological cohort KBP-2020-CPHG in French hospitals. This provides a unique opportunity to study COVID-19 incidence, survival risk factors, and overall prognosis.

A numerical approach to model sound generation by ocean dynamical processes: The case of surface gravity waves.

The new generation of regional ocean models can provide the evolution of both the slow and fast components of pressure, consequently opening original opportunities to evaluate the acoustic signal generated by ocean slower dynamical processes. This capacity is evaluated in the case of surface waves, with a focus on the hydro-acoustic precursors and on the acoustic modes induced by supersonic surface wave groups. The consistency with theory confirms that such models are adapted to answer recent interrogations by Wunsch [(2022).

Incidence and outcomes of critical illness in indigenous peoples: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Indigenous Peoples experience health inequities and racism across the continuum of health services. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of the incidence and outcomes of critical illness among Indigenous Peoples.

Methods: We searched Ovid MEDLINE/PubMed, Ovid EMBASE, Google Scholar, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (inception to October 2022).

Elongational behaviour of electrostatically stabilised and concentrated CNF and CNC hydrogels: Experiments and modelling.

TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibril (CNF) hydrogels or cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) hydrogels can now be obtained at high concentrations (>10 wt%) and used to fabricate biobased materials and structures. Thus, it is required to control and model their rheology in process-induced multiaxial flow conditions using 3D tensorial models. For that purpose, it is necessary to investigate their elongational rheology.

Chest CT scan plus x-ray versus chest x-ray for the follow-up of completely resected non-small-cell lung cancer (IFCT-0302): a multicentre, open-label, randomised, phase 3 trial.

Background: Even after resection of early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), patients have a high risk of developing recurrence and second primary lung cancer. We aimed to assess efficacy of a follow-up approach including clinic visits, chest x-rays, chest CT scans, and fibre-optic bronchoscopy versus clinical visits and chest x-rays after surgery for resectable NSCLC.

Methods: In this multicentre, open-label, randomised, phase 3 trial (IFCT-0302), patients aged 18 years or older and after complete resection of pathological stage I-IIIA NSCLC according to the sixth edition of the TNM classification were enrolled within 8 weeks of resection from 122 hospitals and tertiary centres in France.

Combination of endobronchial bronchoscopic debulking and bronchoplastic segmentectomy of an obstructive neuroendocrine tumour: probably the least invasive approach.

We report the case of a female patient with an obstructing well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumour in the apical segment of the completely atelectatic right lower lobe. Bronchoscopic debulking of the tumour lead to re-ventilation of the remaining lobe, allowing to perform a lung-sparing bronchoplastic resection of the affected segment by uniportal video-assisted thoracic surgery.

Survey of spatio-temporal couplings throughout high-power ultrashort lasers.

The investigation of spatio-temporal couplings (STCs) of broadband light beams is becoming a key topic for the optimization as well as applications of ultrashort laser systems. This calls for accurate measurements of STCs. Yet, it is only recently that such complete spatio-temporal or spatio-spectral characterization has become possible, and it has so far mostly been implemented at the output of the laser systems, where experiments take place.

Tailoring maintenance chemotherapy upon response to induction chemotherapy as compared with pemetrexed continuation maintenance in advanced non-squamous NSCLC patients: Results of the IFCT-GFPC-1101 multicenter randomized phase III trial.

Background: Benefit from maintenance in advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NS-NSCLC) might favor switch maintenance after disease stabilization (SD) and continuation after objective response (OR). Manufacturing of starch-based materials using ultrasonic compression moulding (UCM): toward a structural application.

An experimental study of the ultrasonic compression moulding (UCM) to manufacture biobased composites made of semicrystalline starch powders and softwood fibres is described. The main objective was to assess the potential of using this fast and economical processing technique to elaborate a 100% biobased composite which might substitute more usual polymer materials for structural applications. The starch powder was chosen as raw material for the matrix while the reinforcement was made of softwood fibres.

Switch maintenance chemotherapy versus observation after carboplatin and weekly paclitaxel doublet chemotherapy in elderly patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer: IFCT-1201 MODEL trial.

Purpose: Maintenance chemotherapy is a reasonable choice for patients with metastatic non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) not progressing after induction therapy with a platinum-based doublet. Nevertheless, there have been no studies dedicated to elderly patients.

Weekly paclitaxel plus bevacizumab versus docetaxel as second- or third-line treatment in advanced non-squamous non-small-cell lung cancer: Results of the IFCT-1103 ULTIMATE study.

In the past decade, canine thelaziosis due to Thelazia callipaeda has been diagnosed in an increasing number of European countries, with endemic areas being identified. A multi-center field trial was conducted in endemic areas in France and Spain to evaluate the efficacy of monthly administrations of the oral milbemycin oxime/afoxolaner combination (NexGard Spectra) for the prevention of T. callipaeda infection in at-risk dogs.
