We focus on the Müller-Lyer illusion in an attempt to measure and characterise a more elementary effect that may contribute to the magnitude of said illusion. Perceived location error of angle vertices (a single set of Müller-Lyer fins) and arcs in a 2D plane was measured with the aim to provide clarification of ambiguous results from studies of angle localisation and expand the results to other types of stimuli.

In this study, sugar alcohols, dietary fibers, syrups and natural sweeteners were used as sucrose alternatives in the production of reduced sugar chocolates (50% of cocoa parts) with enhanced bioactive profile. Formulated chocolates were evaluated for their physical (particle size distribution, texture) and sensory properties, sugar composition, polyphenolic compounds content and antioxidant capacity. All produced reduced sugar chocolates ensured >20% lower calorific value than conventional chocolate (prepared with sucrose).

Postpartum weight retention is a risk factor for the development of midlife obesity. Since dietary intake and breastfeeding practice could be promoters of weight loss during postpartum, the objective of this study was to investigate their influence on weight retention during six months postpartum. The study sample consisted of 83 lactating and 76 non-lactating Croatian women who were examined at three measurement waves: at 1 month +/- 1 week, 3 months +/- 1 week and 6 months +/- 1 week postpartum.

Aim: To investigate the prognostic significance of DNA ploidy and silver stained nucleolar organizer regions (AgNOR), as well as their relation to the histological grade and Dukes' stages of colorectal carcinomas, and the relation of tumor cells proportion in the S-phase and Dukes' stage, histologic grade, DNA ploidy, or AgNOR count.

Methods: DNA flow cytometric analysis and AgNOR were performed on 94 surgically removed colorectal carcinomas. The mean AgNOR count was calculated in 200 tumor cells for each case.

The coronary sinus is an anatomic landmark and conduit for many diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. We studied 40 human and 40 canine coronary sinuses of the heart in order to ascertain various functional anatomic features of the coronary sinus and its tributaries. We performed a comparative analysis of human and canine cardiac veins.

Analysis of 1216 abdominal aortographies and selective renovasographies undertaken at the Institute of Radiology, Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka during the period 1979-1985, was performed 39 (3.2%) unilateral renal agenesias were established, a percentage that is significantly higher than reported by other authors. Analysis of all angiographic parameters of a single kidney was also worked out.
