Prognostic value of HPV circulating tumor DNA detection and quantification in locally advanced cervical cancer.

Background: Cervical cancers are mainly caused by an oncogenic HPV. For locally advanced stages, the standard treatment is radio-chemotherapy (RTCT) followed by brachytherapy. Nevertheless, the prognosis remains highly heterogeneous between patients.

Monitoring of Ultra-High Dose Rate Pulsed X-ray Facilities with Radioluminescent Nitrogen-Doped Optical Fiber.

We exploited the potential of radiation-induced emissions (RIEs) in the visible domain of a nitrogen-doped, silica-based, multimode optical fiber to monitor the very high dose rates associated with experiments at different pulsed X-ray facilities. We also tested this sensor at lower dose rates associated with steady-state X-ray irradiation machines (up to 100 keV photon energy, mean energy of 40 keV). For transient exposures, dedicated experimental campaigns were performed at ELSA (Electron et Laser, Source X et Applications) and ASTERIX facilities from CEA (Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique-France) to characterize the RIE of this fiber when exposed to X-ray pulses with durations of a few µs or ns.

Diagnostic and predictive accuracy of anti-mullerian hormone for ovarian function after chemotherapy in premenopausal women with early breast cancer.

Purpose: Accurate diagnosis and prediction of loss of ovarian function after chemotherapy for premenopausal women with early breast cancer (eBC) is important for future fertility and clinical decisions regarding the need for subsequent adjuvant ovarian suppression. We have investigated the value of anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) as serum biomarker for this.

Methods: AMH was measured in serial blood samples from 206 premenopausal women aged 40-45 years with eBC, before and at intervals after chemotherapy.

Novel Gd-doped silica-based optical fiber material for dosimetry in proton therapy.

Optical fibers hold promise for accurate dosimetry in small field proton therapy due to their superior spatial resolution and the lack of significant Cerenkov contamination in proton beams. One known drawback for most scintillation detectors is signal quenching in areas of high linear energy transfer, as is the case in the Bragg peak region of a proton beam. In this study, we investigated the potential of innovative optical fiber bulk materials using the sol-gel technique for dosimetry in proton therapy.

[Conflicting recommendations between the French national authority for health (HAS) and clinical practice guidelines (CNGOF); focus on 200 late medical abortions, conducted outside marketing authorizations].

Objectives: There are conflicting recommandations about late medical abortion: the French National College of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (CNGOF) and the French Superior Health Authority are opposed. The aim was to assess misoprostol's efficiency in medical abortions at 9 to 14 weeks gestational age (GA) METHODS: This is an epidemiologic retrospective study led from March 2017 till January 2019, in Evreux's hospital, France, including all patients undergoing a medical abortion from 9 to 14 weeks GA. We followed the CNGOF's recommandations published in 2016.

Investigations of the MGy dose level radiation effects on the photometric budget of a radiation-hardened CMOS-based camera.

We studied the impact of ionizing radiation at high dose levels (megagray, MGy) on the photometric budget of a radiation-resistant complementary metal oxide semi-conductor (CMOS)-based camera. This is achieved by measuring the radiation-induced degradation of each subpart, namely its illumination system, its optical system, and its CMOS image sensor. The acquired experimental results allow performing a rather realistic simulation of the radiation effects at the system level.

Pixel pitch and particle energy influence on the dark current distribution of neutron irradiated CMOS image sensors.

The dark current produced by neutron irradiation in CMOS Image Sensors (CIS) is investigated. Several CIS with different photodiode types and pixel pitches are irradiated with various neutron energies and fluences to study the influence of each of these optical detector and irradiation parameters on the dark current distribution. An empirical model is tested on the experimental data and validated on all the irradiated optical imagers.

Feasibility and Efficacy of an Addiction Treatment Program in Patients With Upper Aerodigestive Tract Cancer.

Background: Continuing to smoke or to drink after the treatment of an upper aerodigestive tract (UADT) cancer is known to worsen the prognosis. We assessed the feasibility and efficacy of an addiction treatment program integrated into the cancer treatment.

Method: In four units devoted to UADT tumors, we proposed an addiction treatment to all patients still drinking or smoking at the end of the cancer treatment; the abstinence rate was assessed 6 and 12 months later.

[Toxocariasis and functional intestinal disorders. Presentation of 4 cases].

We report 4 cases of adults patients, suffering from irritable bowel syndrome, which had been attributed late to toxocariasis and for whom the treatment led to recovery. Hypereosinophilia was present only in 3 cases. These cases show that toxocariasis is not limited anymore to its two classical expressions: visceral larva migrans and ocular toxocariasis.

[Primary prevention of digestive hemorrhage, caused by rupture of esophageal varices, by endoscopic sclerotherapy in patients with liver cirrhosis. Multicenter randomized controlled study].

The severity of esophageal variceal bleeding in cirrhotic patients justifies prophylactic therapy. A multicenter controlled study was carried out in Languedoc in 116 cirrhotic patients with esophageal varices and no history of bleeding. Patients were randomly assigned to two groups: 60 control patients without therapy; 56 patients treated by endoscopic sclerotherapy (209 sessions).

[Tetraplegia after colonoscopy: benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome induced by flumazenil?].

A case is reported of a 68-year-old female patient who developed a flaccid tetraplegia on recovering from a colonoscopy, carried out under general anaesthesia (3 mg of midazolam, 20 mg of etomidate). During the preanaesthetic visit, she omitted to report a 15-year-addiction to lorazepam 2.5 mg every night.

Sulindac causes regression of rectal polyps in familial adenomatous polyposis.

In familial adenomatous polyposis, sulindac-induced polyp regression has been reported by several authors. In this study, the goal was to confirm these results by a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind crossover study in 10 patients with rectal polyps that had been previously treated by colectomy and ileorectal anastomosis. Patients received sulindac, 300 mg/day, or placebo during two 4-month periods separated by a 1-month wash-out phase.

[Severity of desmoid tumors with retroperitoneal development in Gardner's syndrome. Apropos of 2 cases].

We report two cases of retroperitoneal desmoid tumours in patients with Gardner's syndrome. These tumours are rare and of poor prognosis. In our two cases, the predominant clinical manifestations were caused by compression of the ureters, bladder and nerve roots.
