Epistaxis greatly affects patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT). Although few systemic treatment exist, nintedanib, is a good candidate thanks to its anti-angiogenic activity. Our main objective was to evaluate the efficacy of oral nintedanib on epistaxis duration in HHT patients with moderate to severe epistaxis.

Introduction: Increasing emissions of greenhouse gases contribute to climate change. The healthcare sector, and particularly the operating room, is a significant emitter of greenhouse gases. In head-and-neck surgery, pediatric procedures are very common, but few studies have assessed their ecological impact.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective multicentric study, based on the French national network on rare head and neck cancers (REFCOR), included all patients with a T3-T4 salivary carcinoma of the tongue, diagnosed between January 2009 and December 2018.
Background: In surgical simulation, evaluation tools are necessary to allow the overall and specific level of each gesture to be assessed for learners, to allow active feedback and follow-up. The aim of this study was to create and validate a scale for the assessment of competences for neck dissection (ND) and total laryngectomy (TL) in head and neck surgical oncology simulation specific for revascularized cadavers' models.
Methods: Two independent scales were created for ND and TL based on a two-round Delphi method.

Objective: To survey practices concerning the use of anticoagulants and antiplatelets in microvascular free-flap reconstruction following oncological surgery of the head and neck.
Methods: A survey of practices was carried out between September 2022 and March 2023. An online questionnaire was sent to members of the French GETTEC Head-and-Neck Tumor Study Group in all French centers practicing head-and-neck cancer surgery with reconstruction using microvascular free-flaps.
Background: Among all studies describing COVID-19 clinical features during the first wave of the pandemic, only a few retrospective studies have assessed the correlation between olfac-tory dysfunction (OD) and the evolution of disease severity. The main aim was to assess whether OD is a predictive factor of COVID-19 severity based on the patient's medical management (outpa-tient care, standard hospital admission, and ICU admission).
Methods: A national, prospective, mul-ticenter cohort study was conducted in 20 public hospitals and a public center for COVID-19 screen-ing.
Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyp (CRSwNP) is a typical type 2 inflammation involving interleukin (IL)-4 and IL-13. Dupilumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody targeting IL-4 receptor α subunit, thereby blocking signaling by both cytokines. Our hypothesis was that IL-4 and IL-13, by inducing a severe epithelial dysregulation, are involved in CRSwNP pathogenesis.

Setting: A retrospective analysis was conducted on all patients prospectively included in the national database of the French Expertize Network for Rare ENT Cancers (REFCOR) from January 2000 to December 2016.
Participants: 103 patients from 19 reference centers were included.
This pilot study reveals a higher prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) in patients treated for oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma with radiotherapy compared to the general population. OSAS indicators such as the Epworth Sleepiness Scale seem insufficient in the diagnostic approach to OSAS in this population and systematic screenings should be considered.

For a long time, a radical treatment by total laryngectomy (TL) was proposed. More recent studies tend to propose a conservative surgical approach of the larynx.

The SimLife® model consists in a human cadaver dynamized by pulsatile vascularization. The objective was to evaluate the face, contents, and constructs validity of the SimLife® model in head and neck surgical oncology simulation. Head and neck surgical oncology simulation sessions on SimLife® models were organized with lateral neck dissection and total laryngectomy.

Purpose: Laryngeal chondrosarcoma is a rare tumor that mostly affects the cricoid cartilage. The aim of this study was to compare outcomes between the various treatments of this pathology as there are no official guidelines for this pathology.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of the pathology database of nine French tertiary care centers was conducted.
Objective: Spontaneous nasal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks are frequently linked to idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). The objectives of our study were: (1) to determine the rate of transverse venous sinus stenosis (TVSS) in patients with spontaneous nasal CSF leak and in patients with IIH without CSF (controls), and (2) to study the correlation between spontaneous nasal CSF leak and brain imaging features.
Study Design: A multicenter retrospective case-control study.
Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a typical type-2 inflammation involving several cytokines and is associated with epithelial cell dysfunction. Oncostatin M (OSM) (belonging to the interleukin(IL)-6 family) could be a key driver of epithelial barrier dysfunction. Therefore, we investigated the presence of OSM and IL-6 and the expression pattern of tight junctions (TJs) in the nasal tissue of CRSwNP patients and controls using reverse transcriptase quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and Western blotting.

The objective was to evaluate the impact of a national back pain campaign conducted between 2017 and 2019 on beliefs and behaviours of general practitioners and the general population in France.
Methods: Between 2017 and 2019, a mass-media campaign was used to disseminate positive messages about LBP using several media, along with a parallel campaign addressed to general practitioners.
In sinonasal cancer surgery, a fundamental challenge is to understand the postoperative imaging changes after reconstruction. Misinterpretation of post-operative imaging may lead to a misdiagnosis of tumor recurrence. Because radiotherapy planning is based on imaging, there are many gaps in knowledge to be filled in the interpretation of postoperative imaging to properly define radiotherapy tumor volumes in the presence of flaps.

Methods: This multicenter retrospective study included patients with T1-2 oropharyngeal SCC with N3 nodes treated between 2010 and 2015 in 8 French comprehensive cancer centers. HPV status was determined with P16 hyperexpression in immunohistochemistry.
Objectives: To identify the factors related to the presence of occult metastases before salvage total laryngectomy (STL) in rcN0 patients and to propose an algorithm to identify patients who do not require neck dissection (ND).
Patients And Methods: This multicentric retrospective study included five centers with recruitment from 2008 to 2018. Inclusion criteria were: i) having been treated for laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma in first intention by radiotherapy (either alone or potentiated or preceded by induction chemotherapy), ii) having received STL with or without ND, iii) having an rcN0 neck at the time of STL.

Objectives: To determine the indications, anesthesiological and surgical procedure and interest of drug-induced sleep endoscopy in the treatment of adult obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.
Design: A redactional committee of 17 experts was set up. Conflicts of interest were disclosed and followed up throughout the process of drawing up the guidelines.
Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is associated with inflammation and tissue remodeling including myofibroblasts differentiation and extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition mediated by TGF-β1 and IL-4. Oncostatin M (OSM) is a cytokine involved in fibrotic processes in other cellular subtypes. We investigated the mechanisms of action of OSM in the fibrosis process associated with CRSwNP.
