[Multicentric Screening of Local Antibiotic Resistance in Uncomplicated Urinary System Infections: 1850 Patients from 37 Centers].

This study was aimed to identify the most frequently observed pathogens in uncomplicated urinary tract infections from outpatient urinary isolates obtained across seven different geographical regions in Türkiye and to determine whether the antibiotic resistance rates of these pathogens differ significantly between these regions. The study included patients aged 18 to 65 years who were diagnosed with uncomplicated urinary tract infections and had positive urine cultures from March 2021 to August 2022, across 37 different centers in Türkiye. The participating centers were selected based on their use of the disk diffusion method, in line with the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) guidelines, to ensure standardization of urine culture data.

Association between serum albumin levels at admission and clinical outcomes in pediatric intensive care units: a multi-center study.

Background: Albumin, a vital component in regulating human blood oncotic pressure, plays an important role in the prediction of prognosis in pediatric patients.Previous research identified significant differences in serum albumin levels of healthy and critically ill children.

Methods: The present study aims to investigate the correlation between albumin levels measured during pediatric intensive care unit(PICU) admission and clinical outcomes.

Histopathologic and Antioxidant Regulatory Effects of Different Doses of Thymoquinone Against 2,4,6-Trinitrobenzene Sulfonic Acid-Induced Experimental Colitis in Rats.

The aim of this study was to investigate the potential role of thymoquinone in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) by examining the effects of various doses of thymoquinone on histopathological changes, oxidative stress, and antioxidant markers in basic stamens in a 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced colitis model in rats. Thirty-two rats were divided into four groups: control, TNBS, thymoquinone-20 (20 mg/kg), and thymoquinone-50 (50 mg/kg) groups. The basic stamens of 32 rats were used for this experiment.

The Course of COVID-19 Infection in Patients With Chronic Hepatitis Delta.

In coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), older age and co-morbidities are associated with mortality. Among liver disease aetiologies alcoholic liver disease was associated with mortality. Chronic hepatitis delta (CHD) had not been studied.

CoREST Complex Inhibition Alters RNA Splicing to Promote Neoantigen Expression and Enhance Tumor Immunity.

Unlabelled: Epigenetic complexes tightly regulate gene expression and colocalize with RNA splicing machinery; however, the consequences of these interactions are uncertain. Here, we identify unique interactions of the CoREST repressor complex with RNA splicing factors and their functional consequences in tumorigenesis. Using mass spectrometry, in vivo binding assays, and cryo-EM we find that CoREST complex-splicing factor interactions are direct and perturbed by the CoREST complex inhibitor, corin, leading to extensive changes in RNA splicing in melanoma and other malignancies.

Treatment Effectiveness of Volar Plates in Distal Radius Dorsal Rim Fractures.

 To assess the efficacy of distal radius volar plates in cases involving dorsal fragments at the Ulnar Corner (UC) and Lister Tubercle (LT).  A retrospective study that included patients with distal radius fractures (DRFs) featuring UC and LT dorsal fragments treated with volar plates. The exclusion criteria comprised lunate facet fractures, UC fragment ratio below 25%, and patients treated with dorsal plates.

Comparison of diagnoses made by dentistry students and by artificial intelligence dentists.

Objectives: The introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) about great changes in the field of dentistry, but it has not yet been fully determined in which areas it will make a positive contribution to dentistry students. The objective of our study was to compare the diagnostic accuracy of undergraduate students (fourth-year dentistry students [4DS] and final-year dentistry students [5DS]) and AI when examining panoramic radiographs.

Methods: Fifty panoramic radiographs and 1602 teeth were examined by 50 4DS who had not received a clinical practice internship, 50 5DS, and an AI application.

Is there a comparable Mp-MRI for incidental prostate uptake on 18 F-FDG PET/CT?

Purpose: Although 18 F-FDG-PET/CT is helpful in defining many types of cancer, localized prostate cancer should not be treated with this technique. This study describes the use of multi-parametric MRI (mpMRI) to characterize incidental 18 F-FDG uptake in the prostate.

Methods And Materials: While 18 F-FDG-PET/CT is useful for characterizing a variety of cancers, it is not advised for prostate cancer that is localized.

Pelvic inlet closure with bladder peritoneal flap reduces postoperative ileus after abdominoperineal resection.

Background: Abdominoperineal resection (APR) is the standard treatment for locally advanced distal rectal cancer (LADRC) following neoadjuvant treatment when sphincter-preserving procedures are inapplicable. However, complications such as perineal site infection, perineal hernia and postoperative ileus remain ongoing challenges. We aimed to compare the rate of postoperative ileus due to pelvic incarceration in APR patients with/without pelvic inlet closure.

Flexibility of intrinsic neural timescales during distinct behavioral states.

Recent neuroimaging studies demonstrate a heterogeneity of timescales prevalent in the brain's ongoing spontaneous activity, labeled intrinsic neural timescales (INT). At the same time, neural timescales also reflect stimulus- or task-related activity. The relationship of the INT during the brain's spontaneous activity with their involvement in task states including behavior remains unclear.

Nutrition literacy and its relationship with diet quality and quality of life among white-collar employees: a study from Türkiye.

Background: Nutrition literacy is an important component of health and healthy eating behaviors. The aim of this study was to determine the nutrition literacy (NL) status of white-collar employees and its relationship with adherence to the Mediterranean diet, anthropometric measurements, and lifestyle behaviors, including eating habits, dietary intake, and physical activity level.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 3459 white-collar employees aged 18-65 who lived in Türkiye.

Effect of 0.20% Beryllium (Be)-Added CuAlNiFe Alloy on Tribological Behavior and Microstructural Properties After Post-Casting Heat Treatment and Forging Process.

This study explored how post-casting heat treatment and forging affected the tribological and microstructural characteristics of 0.20% beryllium (Be)-added CuAlNiFe alloys. The heat-treated CuAlNiFe microstructure exhibits a copper-rich α (alpha)-solid-solution phase, a martensitic β (beta)-phase, and diverse intermetallic κ (kappa)-phases, such as leaf-shaped κ, thin κ, and black globs.

Prognostic accuracy of blood cell count ratios in predicting adverse outcomes in crush syndrome patients.

The rationale behind this study was the lack of an accurate predictor to facilitate treatment management and anticipate prognosis in crush syndrome. Our research aimed to investigate the following: (1) Is there a correlation between the ratios of blood cell counts upon admission and the adverse outcomes of crush syndrome? and (2) if such a correlation exists, what are the precise thresholds of blood cell count ratios for predicting these adverse outcomes? In this single-centered and retrospective design study, we analyzed all patients admitted to our hospital after Kahramanmaras Earthquake. The data on length of stay in the ICU and mortality status were obtained using our hospital system.

The fact that free-living amoebae of the genus Acanthamoeba can live in many different environments causes these protozoa to have different interactions with other microorganisms. Investigation of Acanthamoeba-pathogenic bacteria interaction is important for the discovery of new antibacterial agents that can be used against pathogenic bacteria. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the antibacterial effect of cell-free supernatants obtained from Acanthamoeba against some pathogenic bacteria.

Purpose: Earthquakes have serious psychosocial and emotional effects on children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their parents. The limited number of studies investigating the earthquake experience of children with ASD and their parents indicates a need to improve existing research in this area. The aim of this study was to assess parents' experiences with their children after the earthquake and their reactions to the earthquake.

Urinary Neurotrophin Levels as Potential Biomarkers for Overactive Bladder: A Prospective Study.

Background: Overactive bladder (OAB) is an issue in the field of urology that is known for causing symptoms like urges to urinate frequently during the day and even at night (known as nocturia). Nerve growth factor (NGF) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) play a vital role in the growth and operation of nerve cells in the body. New studies are indicating a connection between these neurotrophins and OAB; As such this research project was undertaken to explore how levels of NGT and BDNF in urine might be related to the presence of OAB in individuals.

Enhancing the Quality of Ready-to-Eat Trout Burger Patties: Investigating the Combination of Modified Atmosphere Packaging and Microbial Transglutaminase Enzyme.

In this study, rainbow trout patties ( Walbaum, 1792) were treated under a modified atmosphere (MA) (60/40:CO/N) packed with microbial transglutaminase enzyme (MTGase) at varying concentrations (0.5% and 1%) and kept for a full day at 2°C ± 2°C. Denser and more complex intermolecular cross-linking formations between peptides and gel network structures were observed in the first and last scanning electron microscope images of MTGase-containing groups.

A survey on the relationship between mental health literacy and beliefs toward mental illness among nurses in general hospitals in Turkey.

Aim: The study aimed to determine the relationship between general nurses' mental health literacy and beliefs toward mental illness.

Method: The study involved 285 nurses aged 23 to 47 from three hospitals in western Turkey, who completed the Mental Health Literacy Scale (MHLS) and the Beliefs Toward Mental Illness Scale (BMIS) between December 2023 and March 2024.

Results: Those who received training on mental illnesses as students (t = 2.
