We report the case of a 66-year-old female patient with a treatment refractory disorder of wound healing of the knee, who had already been treated several times surgically and with antibiotics for several months. The examination revealed a skin defect with a fistula in the region of the knee joint. The X‑ray imaging showed an extensive bony defect of unclear etiology.

State-of-the-art algorithms in medical imaging are predominantly diverging from computer vision, where voxel grids, meshes, point clouds, and implicit surface models are used. This is seen from the growing popularity of ShapeNet (51,300 models) and Princeton ModelNet (127,915 models).

This study aims to identify the most feasible and accurate injury score predictor of mortality in German children with trauma using International Classification of Diseases 10 (ICD-10).
Study Design And Setting: Between 2014 and 2020, a retrospective observational cohort study of hospital admissions cases aged <18 years with injury-related ICD-10 codes, using the German hospital database (GHD), was conducted.
Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is a rapidly progressing condition with a high mortality rate. The poor prognosis is often due to delayed diagnosis, which is typically made clinically or radiologically. This case report highlights a rare instance of fulminant NF with an atypical presentation-no initial clinical signs and an unusual radiological appearance.

Background: Off-the-shelf stems offer a wide variety of fixation methods for revision arthroplasty and intercalary tumour implants. However, in extensive defects or needed resection with minimal bone stock left, solid fixation is often not feasible with these implants. Custom-made stem solutions (CSS) offer a viable alternative in these cases to achieve joint preservation.

Our study aims to evaluate the radiographic and clinical outcomes of patients who received a modular aHA with anatomical sizing of the tubercle-bearing metaphyseal components.
Materials And Methods: The medical records of thirty-nine consecutive patients were reviewed.
Purpose: Musculoskeletal complaints and fatigue are commonly described symptoms in daily work of ear nose and throat surgeons using a microscope. Long ear surgical procedures are associated with prolonged microscope use, which can lead to unconsciously tense and uncomfortable body posture. The digital microscope RoboticScope allows visualization of surgical site through a Head-Mounted Display, independent from camera head and is therefore much easier on the back, as the sitting position can be adjusted flexibly.

The monoflange design, where primary intramedullary fixation within the ilium combined with a monoflange for rotational stability, was anticipated to overcome this obstacle. The aim of this study was to evaluate the design with regard to functional outcome, complications, and acetabular reconstruction.

This review will discuss how frequent BCI/blunt cerebrovascular injury (BCVI) on pediatric patients after blunt trauma is, what routine diagnostics looks like, if a computed tomography (CT)/computed tomography angiography (CTA) scan on pediatric patients after blunt trauma is always necessary and if there are any negative health effects.

This study investigates the use of an antibiotic-loaded, mouldable collagen-tricalciumphosphate composite in treatment of hip PJI.
Methods: 124 application cases in 79 patients were included from a referral centre; systemic adverse infects, local complications, and infection control were analysed.

Background And Objectives: For successful competence-oriented teaching at the medical faculties it is important to identify the factors that influence its implementation in order to benefit from the strengths and balance out weaknesses. The present study examined the success factors and obstacles of the implementation of competence-oriented teaching in the surgical discipline from the point of view of students and lecturers.
Methods: After implementation of competence-oriented teaching based on the teaching goals of the NKLM, in clinical examination courses (bedside teaching and block internship, BP) at two hospitals, a qualitative content analysis and quantification of the answers were performed using focus group interviews and questionnaires with students (S) and lecturers (D).
Introduction: Megaendoprosthetic reconstruction of bone defects in skeletally immature patients has led to the development of unique complications and secondary deformities not observed in adult patient cohorts. With an increasing number of megaendoprosthetic replacements performed, orthopedic oncologists still gain experience in the incidence and type of secondary deformities caused. In this study, we report the incidence, probable cause and management outcome of two secondary deformities after megaendoprosthetic reconstruction of the proximal femur: hip dysplasia and genu valgum.

Proximal femoral fractures are a common type of injury in older people. A cut-out of the femoral neck screw after initial osteosynthetic surgery of proximal femoral fractures is a frequent and feared complication. There could be different causes for cut-outs.

Besides pain due to scare tissue as well as undefined neuropathic disorders, there is high evidence that the stoma presents the main risk causing hypergranulation and ascending infection. To restore the cutaneous barrier function in this functional area, soft-tissue on- or in-growth providing a vital and mechanically stable bio-artificial conjunction is considered a promising approach.

This narrative review examines the literature of recent years regarding surgical treatment options and trends in SPD, outlining risks and benefits of each treatment option and addressing biomechanical aspects of sacral injuries and common classification systems.
Materials And Methods: A literature search on the search across relevant online databases was conducted.

Background: Thoracic trauma is a frequent injury in the routine treatment of injured patients. Due to the increasing demographic changes a further increase is to be expected, especially after low-energy trauma.

Megaendoprosthesis offer a viable treatment in complex revision arthroplasty cases with good functional outcome. In the context of a neoplastic indication, the diagnosis-related group (DRG) I95A is usually assigned with a relative weight of 4.906 (2021).

Played with a hard ball by players wearing little or no protective gear, the rates of concussions and head injuries are of high interest. In this study, we reviewed and investigated injuries sustained by 108 German National League rink hockey players.

To achieve the best anatomical as well as biomechanical reconstruction and preserve the tibial tuberosity, we developed custom-made metaphyseal sleeves (CMSs) to reconstruct massive defects with a hinge knee replacement.
Methods: Between 2019 and 2022, 10 patients were treated in a single-center study.
The complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) usually occurs within a few weeks in 2-5% of all patients after trauma or surgery or subsequent measures of the distal extremities. There are certain risk factors for its occurrence but no "CRPS personality", instead there are factors that negatively influence the course. The prognosis is generally good ("rule of thirds"), but remaining limitations are common.

Methods: We report a series of five children and adolescents, who had undergone a post-traumatic radial head excision. Clinical outcomes were evaluated in terms of elbow/wrist range of motion, stability, deformity and discomforts or restrictions at two follow-up points.
