This paper investigates some properties of the large time behaviour of the solutions of a spatially distributed system of equations modelling the evolutionary epidemiology of a plant-pathogen system. The model takes into account the phenotypic trait and the mutation of the pathogen, which is described by a non-local operator. We roughly speaking prove that the solutions separate the phenotype trait from the spatio-temporal evolution in the large time asymptotic.

These include situations like severe trauma in remote areas, battlefield conditions, instances where blood transfusion is not feasible due to compatibility concerns, or when patients decline transfusions based on religious beliefs. This study introduces a novel method utilizing poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) to entrap Hb within ZIF-8 nanoparticles (i.

We show that the basic reproduction number [Formula: see text] of the pathogen can be defined in that case and corresponds to a threshold between the persistence ([Formula: see text]) and the extinction ([Formula: see text]) of the pathogen population. When [Formula: see text] and the maximal fitness is attained by at least one variant, we show that the systems reaches an endemic equilibrium state that can be explicitly determined from the initial data.

The originality of this model comes from taking into account the storage of part of the resource for a certain time before being put up for sale on the market. Taking into account the supposedly fast price dynamics compared to the other mechanisms involved and after integration of the stock equation, the system is reduced to a system of two delayed differential equations.

The uncertainty of knowledge around this condition, including its overall prevalence, pathophysiology, and management, along with the growing numbers of affected individuals, has created an essential need for information and disease management. This has become even more critical in a time of abundant online misinformation and potential misleading of patients and health care professionals.

The neuropsychiatric symptoms, which are frequent (up to 30 %), can severely affect the quality of life of patients affected by this condition, notably by significantly reducing their working ability. To date, no pharmacologic treatment is available for post-COVID, apart from symptomatic treatments.

The prevalence of post-Covid is estimated at around 30% in the general population after an infection. Some of the risk factors include female sex, the number of symptoms in the acute phase, and comorbidities.

We provide a suitable functional framework to handle this system and study the large-time behavior of the solutions. We extend our model by incorporating a colonization process and applying the return to home process to an epidemic.

Biologically, the goal of these models is to understand what governs the severity of infections, the patterns of infectiousness, and the variation thereof across individual hosts.

The model explicitly tracks the infection-age structure and genetic composition of the pathogen population. Each strain is characterized by pathogenicity traits determining its infection efficiency and a time-varying sporulation curve taking into account lesion aging.

Our model is determined by an age-structured reaction-diffusion-advection system in which the roles of the water resource and of the atmospheric activity are considered. The model is abstract but constructed in such a manner that it can be applied to real-world forest areas; thus it allows to establish an infinite number of scenarios for testing the robustness and resilience of forest ecosystems to anthropic actions or to climate change.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFFree calcium ion concentration is known to govern numerous biological processes and indeed calcium acts as an important biological secondary messenger for muscle contraction, neurotransmitter release, ion-channel gating, and exocytosis. As such, the development of molecules with the ability to instantaneously increase or diminish free calcium concentrations potentially allows greater control over certain biological functions. In order to permit remote regulation of Ca, a selective BAPTA-type synthetic receptor / host was integrated with a photoswitchable azobenzene motif, which upon photoirradiation would enhance (or diminish) the capacity to bind calcium upon acting on the conformation of the adjacent binding site, rendering it a stronger or weaker binder.

The objective of the analysis is to understand the relationship of unreported cases to reported cases. In many epidemic diseases the reported cases are a small fraction of the unreported cases.

As Mg and Ca cannot be simultaneously complexed by the receptors, allosteric control of complexation results. Potentiometric measurements established stepwise protonation constants and showed high affinity for Ca (log K = 6.

In these enzymes, the two electrons that are released during the reaction are rapidly removed, one at a time, by spatially separated electron transfer units. Inspired by this design, a Ru(II)-Mo(VI) dyad was synthesized and characterized, with the aim of accelerating the rate-determining step in the cis-dioxo molybdenum-catalyzed OAT cycle, the transfer of an oxo ligand to triphenyl phosphine, via a photo-oxidation process.

The aim of this paper is to improve a deterministic model (DM) and an individual-based model (IBM) with reference to Salmonella propagation in flocks of laying hens taking into account variations in hens housed in the same cage and to compare both models. The spatio-temporal evolution, the basic reproduction number, R 0, and the speed of wave propagation were computed for both models.

In a gender- and age-structured compartmental model, it is shown that if the variance of the distribution is small enough, an increase in this variance strongly increases the basic reproduction number. Moreover, if the variance is large enough, the mean age difference barely affects the basic reproduction number.

Recovered hosts are partially immune to the disease and while they cannot directly become infectious again, they can still transmit the parasite to vectors. The basic reproduction number [Formula: see text] is shown to govern the local stability of the disease free equilibrium but not the global behavior of the system because of the potential occurrence of a backward bifurcation.

The first type is called "non-immune" comprising all humans who have never acquired immunity against malaria and the second type is called "semi-immune". Non-immune are divided into susceptible, exposed and infectious and semi-immune are divided into susceptible, exposed, infectious and immune.
