 Diagnostic strategies for suspected pulmonary embolism (PE) have not been prospectively evaluated in COVID-19 patients.  Prospective, multicenter, outcome study in 707 patients with both (suspected) COVID-19 and suspected PE in 14 hospitals. Patients on chronic anticoagulant therapy were excluded.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) seems to be an underdiagnosed complication in COVID-19 patients. We present three male patients, aged 67, 29 and 71 years, who were admitted to the hospital with COVID-19. They all showed deterioration in the course of their disease caused by VTE.

A 94-year-old man with a history of colon cancer presented to the emergency department with a painful, suppurating, parasternal swelling. The swelling had been present for more than a year and its size had increased over time. However, previous diagnostic tests (CT, MRI and cytological punctures) had not led to a diagnosis.
