In order to provide more effective and personalized healthcare services to patients and healthcare professionals, intelligent active knowledge management and reasoning systems with semantic interoperability are needed. Technological developments have changed ubiquitous healthcare making it more semantically interoperable and individual patient-based; however, there are also limitations to these methodologies. Based upon an extensive review of international literature, this paper describes two technological approaches to semantically interoperable electronic health records for ubiquitous healthcare data management: the ontology-based model and the information, or openEHR archetype model, and the link to standard terminologies such as SNOMED-CT.

It is well known that [(18)F]FDG PET has a low sensitivity in the detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We prospectively compared [(11)C]acetate PET/CT results with those of [(18)F]FDG PET/CT in patients with HCCs. Thirteen patients (M:F=11:2, mean age of 51+/-12) with suspicious or confirmed HCCs underwent [(11)C]acetate PET/CT with or without [(18)F]FDG PET/CT (both [(11)C]acetate and [(18)F]FDG PET/CT were performed in 10 patients).

This study was performed to provide the well-designed conceptual framework of clinical contents in procedures that enables clinicians to execute structured data entry at the point of care. The conceptual framework was developed through applying the ISO's conceptual framework for clinical contents modeling, semantic structuring, and using the Entity-Attribute-Value (EAV) model for data representation. We provided the conceptual framework in procedures, including twenty-one attributes and structured clinical data sets for operation records that are six diseases based on the conceptual framework.
