[The detection of nonallelic to known genes of resistance to Tilletia caries (DC) Tul. in wheat strains from interspecific hybridization (Triticum aestivum x Aegilops cylindrica)].

It was established by hybridological analysis that winter bread wheat lines 1/74-91, 3/36-91, 5/55-91 possess single dominant gene of resistance to bunt (Tilletia caries (DC) Tul.), but lines 8/2-91, 5/43-91, 4/11-91 and 8/16-91 have two independent dominant genes for this character. These genes originated from Aegilops cylindrica are not identical to Bt1-Bt17 genes and are unknown to date.

[Mutagenicity of drinking water in various districts of Moscow].

The mutagenicity of the drinking water from 16 districts of Moscow was investigated by analyzing of chromosome aberrations induced in cells of Crepis capilaris seeds used as a plant test system. [Cross-adaptation as affected by methylating and ethylating compounds and mitomycin c].

The present study examines cross-adaptation between alkylating agents and antibiotic mitomycin C (MC). Ethylating and methylating agents induce monoadducts in DNA in the form of ethyl and methyl radicals. MC induces DNA cross-links.

[Changes in the age structure of the hematopoietic stem cells of older mice under the influence of a factor inhibiting their proliferative activity].

The effect of stem cell proliferation inhibitor (PIF) on hemopoietic stem cell and committed precursor cell subpopulations in aged mice was studied. The following parameters were analyzed: the number of CFUs-5, CFUs-8, and CFUs-12 in bone marrow and spleen, the number of BFUe, CFUs-GM, CFUs-M, and the ability of bone marrow cells of aged mice to repopulate bone marrow of lethally irradiated recipients (MRA). Characteristic of aged mice were an increased number of precursors (mainly in bone marrow), changes in their erythropoietic differentiation, and a decreased MRA of bone marrow cells.

[The effect of inhibitors on induced mutagenesis].

The mutagenic effect induced by mitomycin C (MC) 20 mg/ml in early, middle and late G1-phase of Crepis capillaris seeds was modified by DNA synthesis inhibitors--caffeine 5 mM, hydroxyurea (HU) 5 x 10(-3) M, 1-beta-D-arabinofuranosylcytosine (araC) 1 x 10(-3) M and aphidicolin (APC) 0.5 mg/ml in the DNA post-synthesis phase (G2). It was shown that under the action of MC in early G1 and the inhibitors in the G2 the total number of aberrations for fixations is lower in all the cases than under the action of MC only.

[Effects of multipotent hematopoietic stem cell inhibitory factor on formation of immune response to viral antigen].

An immunostimulating effect of PIF was studied. The augmentation of antibody production to Coxsackie A13 virus as well as protective effect during influenza infection have been found out in mice after PIF injections. An immunostimulating effect of PIF after SRBC immunization of mice has been also revealed.

[The fatty acid test in patients with the initial stages of hypertension].

It was established that initial stages of hypertensive disease are accompanied by quantitative changes of the content of free fatty acids. An important diagnostic criterion in the pathogenesis of this disease are unsaturated fatty acids. Their concentration was studied in erythrocytes using gaseous-fluid chromatography.

[Mitomycin C-induced mutagenesis].

The mutagenic effect of mitomycin C (MC) has been shown in the S phase of Crepic capillaris cells. The repair ability of MC-induced DNA lesions proves exceedingly high, due to post-replicative and excision repair processes. In the experiments with MC-pretreatment of Crepic capillaris cells, nonmutagenic concentration of 1 microgram/ml provides inducible repair system--"adaptive response", which considerably decreases the levels of mutagenesis induced by MC at concentrations of 10, 20 and 40 micrograms/ml.

Detection of ischaemic heart disease by electrocardiography in clinical practice and in mass population studies. Comparative investigation.

Two groups of epidemiologists (in Moscow and Prague) and a group of clinicians in Moscow evaluated independently of each other 283 electrocardiograms. Comparison has shown considerable agreement in the views of epidemiologists of both groups, especially as regards evaluation of cicatricial changes in the myocardium and of ischaemic-type T-wave changes. Intra-group differences in the evaluation of ECG signs of IHD were among epidemiologists substantially smaller than among clinicians.

[Undulating kinetics factors in radiation mutagenesis].

Air-dry Crepis capillaris seeds, soaked for 14 and 20 hours, were dried to the moisture content of 1,1% with the following gamma-irradiation at a dose of 1500 r. Irradiated seeds were stored in the state of identical moisture for 38 days. The drying of three groups of seeds to moisture content of 1,1% provided their identical initial radiosensitivity.

[Comparison of electrocardiographic data with morphological picture of atrial infarct].

The electrocardiographic changes were studied in autopsyproven fresh atrial infarction and compared with the morphological pattern of the lesion. The infarction was found to localize predominantly in the posterior wall of the right atrium. The morphological pattern of atrial infarction was similar to the changes developing in focal lesions of the left ventricular myocardium.
