Planar Bilayer Measurements of Alamethicin and Gramicidin Reconstituted in Biomimetic Block Copolymers.

This work explores methods for forming and characterizing biomimetic planar membranes composed of amphiphilic block copolymers. The membranes are diblocks and triblocks with hydrophilic blocks of poly(2-methyl-2-oxazoline) (PMOXA) and hydrophobic blocks of poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS). Experiments with the lipid diphytanoyl phosphocholine (DPhPC) serve as a basis for comparison with the polymeric membranes.

Observation of a centrality-dependent dijet asymmetry in lead-lead collisions at sqrt[S(NN)] =2.76 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC.

By using the ATLAS detector, observations have been made of a centrality-dependent dijet asymmetry in the collisions of lead ions at the Large Hadron Collider. In a sample of lead-lead events with a per-nucleon center of mass energy of 2.76 TeV, selected with a minimum bias trigger, jets are reconstructed in fine-grained, longitudinally segmented electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeters.

Characterization of season and sampling method effects on measurement of forage quality in fescue-based pastures.

Information on seasonal changes and effects of sampling methods on the measurement of forage quality is limited for fescue-based pastures. Eight continuously grazed, 0.76-ha, fescue-based pastures were used to compare forage type, method of collection, and seasonal effects on forage quality in a repeated-measures, split-plot design.
