Digital therapeutics (DTx) are transforming healthcare delivery through personalised, evidence-based interventions that offer a cost-effective approach to health management. However, their widespread adoption faces significant barriers including privacy concerns, usability issues, and integration challenges within healthcare systems. This review assesses the current evidence on DTx, with a particular focus on the role of co-creation in enhancing design and usability.

Phytochemical analysis, antioxidant activity and modulatory effect of aqueous leaf extract of L on oxaliplatin-induced oxidative stress in isolated rat liver mitochondria.

This study evaluates the antioxidant effects of aqueous leaf extract of (ALEPL) and its potential to counteract oxaliplatin (OXA)-induced mitochondrial oxidative stress in rat livers, a common side effect of chemotherapy in cancer treatment. Bioactive compounds were identified using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography coupled with Tandem Mass Spectrometry (HPLC-MS and MS), with Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) for chemical and mineral analysis. ALEPL showed notable antioxidant activity, with IC50 values of 4.

Assessing Novel Antibody-Based Therapies in Reconstructive 3D Cell Models of the Tumor Microenvironment.

Targeted, combinatorial, and immunomodulatory therapies, such as antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and immunomodulatory antibodies (Abs), are powerful weapons against tumor cells and immune cells within the tumor microenvironment (TME). Therefore, the evaluation of such therapies should be conducted in pre-clinical models able to recapitulate the complex cellular and molecular crosstalk of the TME. To build-in critical hallmarks of the TME, a breast cancer heterotypic 3D cell model (3D-3) is devised using a microencapsulation strategy with an inert biomaterial (alginate) and agitation-based cultures.

Ten-year analgesic utilization patterns and economic implications in Portugal.

Aims: This study evaluated the 10-year consumption and economic patterns of classical analgesics, adjuvants and opioids in Portugal (2012-2022), and conducted a comparative analysis between Portugal, Spain and Denmark to explore the consumption patterns among these countries for 2022.

Methods: Data on sales and national health service (NHS) costs were obtained from the Portuguese National Authority of Medicines and Health Products. Sales data were converted to defined daily dose (DDD) per 1000 inhabitants per day according to the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) classification/DDD methodology, while comparisons between Spain and Denmark were evaluated with the chi-square test, when appropriate.

Methods: This retrospective study included 695 patients up to 19 years old treated with adapted BFM protocols between 1997 and 2018 in four hospitals in Rio de Janeiro. The 1997-2007 and 2008-2018 cohorts were analyzed separately.

A comprehensive analysis of digital health-focused Living Labs: innovative approaches to dementia.

The increasing prevalence of dementia demands innovative solutions; however, existing technological products often lack tailored support for individuals living with this condition. The Living Lab approach, as a collaborative innovation method, holds promise in addressing this issue by actively involving end-users in the design and development of solutions adapted to their needs. Despite this potential, the approach still faces challenges due to its lack of recognition as a research methodology and its absence of tailored guidelines, particularly in dementia care, prompting inquiries into its effectiveness.

Clinical Correlation of Transcription Factor SOX3 in Cancer: Unveiling Its Role in Tumorigenesis.

Members of the SOX (SRY-related HMG box) family of transcription factors are crucial for embryonic development and cell fate determination. This review investigates the role of SOX3 in cancer, as aberrations in SOX3 expression have been implicated in several cancers, including osteosarcoma, breast, esophageal, endometrial, ovarian, gastric, hepatocellular carcinomas, glioblastoma, and leukemia. Introduction: Empagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitor used to treat type 2 diabetes (T2D) to improve glycemic control, reduce risk of cardiovascular death in patients with T2D, and treat patients with symptomatic chronic heart failure (HF) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Background: Easy access to the Internet enables the creation of many online applications. In this sense, questionnaires were developed to evaluate the usability of health area online applications: the National Usability-Focused Health Information System Scale (NuHISS), the Enlight, and the User Version of the Mobile Application Rating Scale (uMARS). Those scales do not have a Portuguese (Brazil) version which is adequate to Brazil's culture.

The widespread of chlorhexidine and antibiotics in the water bodies, which grew during the global COVID-19 pandemic, can increase the dispersion of antibiotic resistance. We assessed the occurrence of these pharmaceutical compounds as well as SARS-CoV-2 and analysed the bacterial community structure of hospital and urban wastewaters from Brazil, Cameroon, and Madagascar. Water and wastewater samples (n = 59) were collected between January-June 2022.

Health care itineraries for women in situations of abortion: methodological aspects of a qualitative study for Birth in Brazil II survey.

In recent decades, several academic studies on abortion have been produced in Brazil, with different designs, objectives, and methodologies. However, due to the diversity of situations in which Brazilian women experience abortion, the complexity of this topic, and its modulations in different political and sociocultural contexts, it still challenges academicians and the fields of health and reproductive rights. In this article, we present methodological aspects of a qualitative study on health care itineraries of women in situations of abortion, a component of the Birth in Brazil II survey, whose objective is to discuss the effects of gender; race/ethnicity; social class; generational, regional, and territorial inequalities on care itineraries.
