Article Synopsis
  • Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a challenging disease to cure, but Polyphyllin I (PPI), a compound from Paris polyphylla, shows promising cytotoxic effects against AML cells, specifically MOLM-13, with an IC value of 0.44 μM.
  • PPI induces a type of cell death called ferroptosis by increasing intracellular iron levels and causing lipid peroxidation, acting faster than the known agent erastin in just about 6 hours.
  • The study found that PPI works by inhibiting the PI3K pathway and targeting the SREBP-1/SCD1 axis, and it effectively slowed tumor growth in mice while

Six undescribed alkaloids together with 15 known alkaloids were isolated from the aerial parts of Aconitum carmichaelii. Their structures were elucidated extensively by NMR and HRESIMS spectroscopy. The absolute configurations of N-formyllaurotetanine, and the known compounds glaucine-β-N-oxide and glaucine-α-N-oxide were established by electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study involved administering Ibrutinib to mice exposed to poly I:C and LPS, and then examining their lung health through various techniques, which indicated reduced inflammation and improved lung conditions post-treatment.
  • * Results revealed that Ibrutinib effectively lowered markers of inflammation and activity in relevant signaling pathways, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic agent for managing immunity and inflammation in ALI.
