Methods: The guidelines are based on scientific evidence completed with expert opinion. By summarising and evaluating the best available evidence, recommendations for the evaluation and treatment of patients have been formulated.
Complex eukaryotes vary greatly in the mode and extent that their evolutionary histories have been shaped by the microbial communities that they host. A general understanding of the evolutionary consequences of host-microbe symbioses requires that we understand the relative importance of host phylogenetic divergence and other ecological processes in shaping variation in host-associated microbial communities. To contribute to this understanding, we described the bacterial communities hosted by several Drosophila species native to the Sonoran Desert of North America.

Methods: A retrospective cohort analysis of American Association for the Surgery of Trauma Aortic Occlusion for Resuscitation in Trauma and Acuteregistry patients with Zone 1 REBOA between 2013 and 2022 was performed.
Lead halide perovskite nanocrystals, which offer rich photochemistry, have the potential to capture photons over a wide range of the visible and infrared spectrum for photocatalytic, optoelectronic, and photon conversion applications. Energy transfer from the perovskite nanocrystal to an acceptor dye in the form of a triplet or singlet state offers additional opportunities to tune the properties of the semiconductor-dye hybrid and extend excited-state lifetimes. We have now successfully established the key factors that dictate triplet energy transfer between excited CsPbI and surface-bound rhodamine dyes using absorption and emission spectroscopies.

Methods: The PROspective Observational Vascular Injury Treatment (PROOVIT) registry was queried from 2013 to 2022 for MVI repaired with an open or endovascular intervention.
Background: The objective of our present effort was to use an international blunt thoracic aortic injury (BTAI) registry to create a prediction model identifying important preoperative and intraoperative factors associated with postoperative mortality, and to develop and validate a simple risk prediction tool that could assist with patient selection and risk stratification in this patient population.
Methods: For the purpose of the present study, all patients undergoing thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) for BTAI and registered in the Aortic Trauma Foundation (ATF) database from January 2016 as of June 2022 were identified. Patients undergoing medical management or open repair were excluded.
A key step in the evolutionary transition to multicellularity is the origin of multicellular groups as biological individuals capable of adaptation. Comparative work, supported by theory, suggests clonal development should facilitate this transition, although this hypothesis has never been tested in a single model system. We evolved 20 replicate populations of otherwise isogenic clonally reproducing 'snowflake' yeast (Δ) and aggregative 'floc' yeast (pp) with daily selection for rapid growth in liquid media, which favors faster cell division, followed by selection for rapid sedimentation, which favors larger multicellular groups.
