Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a prevalent upper respiratory condition that manifests in two primary subtypes: CRS with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) and CRS without nasal polyps (CRSsNP). While previous studies indicate a correlation between air pollution and CRS, the role of genetic predisposition in this relationship remains largely unexplored. We hypothesized that higher air pollution exposure would lead to the development of CRS, and that genetic susceptibility might modify this association.

Postpartum depression also exerts various negative consequences on infant development and parent-infant relationships. Social support is identified as an important factor influencing many parental predictors, and may affect the development of PPD.

Our aim was to clarify this issue using two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis in a large cohort.

Here, we demonstrate a water coupling strategy to co-hydrolyze polyester/cotton textile blends into polymer monomers and platform chemicals in gamma-valerolactone. The blends display a proclivity for achieving an augmented 5-hydroxymethylfurfural yield relative to the degradation of cotton alone.

The effects of inoculation on physical and chemical parameters, ammonia and hydrogen sulfide release, nitrogen form and sulfur compound content change and physical-chemical properties during nitrogen and sulfur conversion were studied. The results showed that inoculation of TNB and TSOB increased the temperature, pH, OM degradation, C/N ratio and germination index (GI) of compost.

Due to anatomical variations in the aortic root and technical challenges unique to PNAR, the transfemoral approach (TF-TAVR) requires continued accumulation of experience and technological refinement. In this context, we successfully and safely performed a snare-assisted TF-TAVR procedure for a patient with PNAR, characterized by significant aortic angulation.

Wearable devices are a cutting-edge technology for point-of-care detection and dynamic monitoring of CORT with inspiring convenience. Herein, we developed a minimally invasive skin-worn device with the advanced integration of both interstitial fluid (ISF) sampling and target molecule sensing for simultaneous detection of CORT via a microneedle-based sensor with high sensitivity, excellent efficiency, and outstanding reproducibility.

Carcinomas in different locations of the oesophagus could have different patterns of lymph node metastasis after surgery.
Methods: In this multicentric retrospective study, we enrolled patients with middle thoracic oesophageal squamous cell carcinomas from 3 cancer centres, and none of the patients underwent radiotherapy before or after surgery.
Background: Global research hotspots and future research trends in the neurobiological mechanisms of late-life depression (LLD) as well as its diagnosis and treatment are not yet clear.
Objectives: This study profiled the current state of global research on LLD and predicted future research trends in the field.
Methods: Literature with the subject term LLD was retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection, and CiteSpace software was used to perform econometric and co-occurrence analyses.
Objective: The study aims to investigate Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD) through a interdisciplinary lens, integrating insights from neuroscience, dentistry, and psychology to dissect its complex pathophysiology and neural mechanisms. It focuses on exploring the neurobiological underpinnings of TMJD, emphasizing the role of pain perception, modulation, and the impact of neurophysiological changes on the disorder.
Design: This is a comprehensive narrative review of the literature.
Aim: We reveal the mechanism of action whereby ambient PM promotes kidney injury.
Methods: Using C57BL/6 mice, the effects of PM exposure on the acute kidney injury (AKI) were investigated, including renal function changes, expression of inflammatory cytokines, histopathological changes, as well as activation of nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain, leucine-rich repeat and pyrin domain-containing 3(NLRP3). The effects of PM on renal injury after NLRP3 inhibition were explored using NLRP3 inhibitor (MCC950) and NLRP3 knockout mice.
In this work, iron-phosphorus based composite biochar (FPBC) was prepared by modification with potassium phosphate and iron oxides for the removal of heavy metal ions from single and mixed heavy metal (Pb and Cd) solutions. FTIR and XPS characterization experiments showed that the novel modified biochar had a greater number of surface functional groups compared to the pristine biochar. The maximum adsorption capacities of FPBC for Pb(II) and Cd(II) were 211.

In a well-known negative feedback model, IκBα-dependent NF-κB termination is a delayed response pattern in the later stage of activation, and the mechanisms mediating the rapid termination of active NF-κB remain unclear. Here, we showed IκBα-independent rapid termination of nuclear NF-κB mediated by CLK2, which negatively regulated active NF-κB by phosphorylating the RelA/p65 subunit of NF-κB at Ser180 in the nucleus to limit its transcriptional activation through degradation and nuclear export.

Under such a background, this study aims to examine the effects of pandemic stress on cyberbullying perpetration and victimization among Chinese adolescents, and to explore the mediator of perceived safety and the moderator of family cohesion underlying this association, during China's outbreak of Omicron. A sample of 822 adolescents was obtained from Taizhou in Zhejiang Province, China, based on a multistage cluster random sampling method.

In this study, we developed carbon flux network models for various regional lands using complex networks, percolation theory, and introducing time delay effects using carbon flux daily data from 2000 to 2019 for three regions: China, the mainland United States, and Europe, to measure the resilience of finite clusters with sizes greater than or equal to s of the carbon flux network under localized attack. The analysis revealed that the carbon flux networks in different regions are characterized by a degree distribution consistent with the Poisson distribution.

Hence, this study aims to summarise existing literature on the impact of GDM on NAFLD in mothers and investigate the intergenerational impact on NAFLD in offspring.
Methods: Using 4 databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Scopus) between January 1980 and December 2023, randomized controlled trials and observational studies that assessed the effect of maternal GDM on intergenerational liver outcomes were extracted and analysed using random-effects meta-analysis to investigate the effect of GDM on NAFLD in mothers and offspring.
