Background: Due to their young age and limited ability to communicate, pediatric patients in internal medicine wards are at risk of nursing assessment errors, which can lead to adverse events and disputes.

Objective: To explore the application effect of modified pediatric early warning score (PEWS) in the early identification of critically ill children in pediatric general wards.

Design: A single-blind, two-arm randomized controlled trial was conducted using a convenience sampling method.

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition resulting from pathogen infection and characterized by organ dysfunction. Programmed cell death (PCD) during sepsis has been associated with the development of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), impacting various physiological systems including respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, neurological, hematological, hepatic, and intestinal systems. It is well-established that pathogen infections lead to immune dysregulation, which subsequently contributes to MODS in sepsis.

Galloping behavior of insulated overhead transmission line based on aerodynamic analysis.

The galloping of iced transmission line under extreme weather conditions, will lead to significant electrical faults and structural damage, and is becoming a serious issue that threatens the safe and stable operation of the power grid. In this paper, a simulation model of 10 kV insulated overhead transmission line is established based on finite element method, and the effects of various influencing factors on the galloping behavior and aerodynamic characteristics are investigated and analyzed. The results show that the aerodynamic stability of the iced lines is poorest, when the wind speed is between 7 and 15 m/s and the wind attack angle is around 50°.

Methods: S100A8/A9 expression was determined by western blot and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Tear secretion, corneal fluorescein staining, and hematoxylin and eosin staining were used to evaluate the effect of paquinimod, a S100A8/A9 inhibitor, on dry eye disease in nonobese diabetic (NOD) mice.

Effect of intramuscular vs intra-articular betamethasone injection on pain and inflammatory factors among patients with severe traumatic knee osteoarthritis.

Objective: The aim of this study was to comprehensively investigate the clinical efficacy of intraoperative local joint injection and intramuscular injection of betamethasone in patients with severe traumatic knee osteoarthritis (KOA).

Methods: 80 patients with severe traumatic KOA undergoing total knee arthroplasty were retrospectively recruited and rolled into S1 group (intra-articular injection of ropivacaine + betamethasone and isotonic saline mixture at joint incision), S2 group (muscle local injection of betamethasone before incision closure, simultaneously intra-articular injection of ropivacaine + isotonic saline mixture at joint incision), and D group (intra-articular injection of ropivacaine + isotonic saline mixture at the joint incision). Visual analog scale (VAS) score, serum inflammatory factors (IFs), hospital for special surgery (HSS)score, Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), and adverse reaction events (AREs) were analyzed.

Long-term erosion by acidic solutions in karst regions leads to continuous deterioration of the physical and mechanical properties at the interfaces of engineering structures, adversely affecting their operational performance. To investigate the degradation patterns of the mechanical properties and corrosion mechanisms of the concrete‒limestone composite (CLC) after exposure to acidic corrosion, three kinds of CLC samples treated with acidic solutions of different pH values were fabricated. Mechanical property analysis was conducted via triaxial compression testing methods.
