Premature dropout from psychotherapy can harm patients and increase mental health costs. This study identified predictors of dropout in brief online psychotherapy for essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a secondary analysis of a randomized trial on 4-week CBT or IPT protocols.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, a significant increase in psychiatric symptoms was found among essential service professionals (professionals or interns from the health and educational sector) who were exposed to high-risk contamination areas. These symptoms impair functionality, impacting quality of life, work, autonomy, and relationships. Recent data show that brief interventions are effective; however, between 20 and 30% of those individuals often do not attend their scheduled appointments.

Standardizing vitamin D supplementation to minimize deficiency in children with intestinal failure.

Background: Vitamin D deficiency is present in 40%-70% of children with intestinal failure (IF), yet there are no published guidelines for repleting and maintaining vitamin D levels in this population. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of a standardized vitamin D algorithm in reducing the incidence of deficiency.

Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed in children with IF who had at least one serum vitamin D (25-hydroxyvitamin D ) measurement.

The notion that schizophrenia is a neuroprogressive disorder is based on clinical perception of cumulative impairments over time and is supported by neuroimaging and biomarker research. Nevertheless, increasing evidence has indicated that schizophrenia first emerges as a neurodevelopmental disorder that could follow various pathways, some of them neuroprogressive. The objective of this review is to revisit basic research on cognitive processes and neuroimaging findings in a search for candidate keys to the intricate connections between neurodevelopment and neuroprogression in schizophrenia.

Efficacy of an acceptance-based group behavioral therapy for generalized anxiety disorder.

Background: Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) shows the weakest treatment response among anxiety disorders. This study aimed at examining whether an acceptance-based group behavioral therapy (ABBT) for patients in a Brazilian anxiety disorders program, combining mindfulness and exposure strategies, can improve clinical outcome when compared with a standard nondirective supportive group therapy (NDST).

Methods: Ninety-two individuals diagnosed with GAD were randomized to receive 10 sessions of either ABBT or NDST.

Emotional memory in bipolar disorder: Impact of multiple episodes and childhood trauma.

Background: Emotional memory is a critical amygdala-dependent cognitive function characterized by enhanced memory for emotional events coupled with retrograde amnesia. Our study aims to assess the influence of bipolar disorder (BD), trauma, and the number of mood episodes on emotional memory.

The present study demonstrates 30 plant bugs species associated with 50 records of prey and six records of mycophagy for Brazil. The data were compiled from Schuh's Catalog, the literature, specimens deposited in entomology museums and exemplars from different regions of Brazil sent for identification. Some of the data from the literature used did not presented complete information.
