Production of agricultural crops with a low greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint is essential to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. The inclusion of pulse crops in cereal-based rotations can enhance environmental quality by providing biologically fixed N and thereby reducing the amount of synthetic N fertilizer required for the crop rotation. The inclusion of pulse crop has the potential to reduce NO emissions from the agricultural system in both the legume phase and the subsequent wheat phase of the rotation.

Background: Walking and balance impairment are common sequelae of stroke and significantly impact functional independence, morbidity, and mortality. Adequate postural stability is needed for walking, which requires sufficient integration of sensory information between the visual, somatosensory, and vestibular centers. "Sensory reweighting" describes the normal physiologic response needed to maintain postural stability in the absence of sufficient visual or somatosensory information and is believed to play a critical role in preserving postural stability after stroke.

Agriculture produces food, fiber and biofuels for the world's growing population, however, agriculture can be a major contributor of nitrogen (N) losses including emissions of ammonia (NH), nitrous oxide (NO) and nitrate (NO) leaching and runoff. A Canadian Agricultural Nitrogen Budget for Reactive N (CANBNr) model was developed to estimate the soil N balance in 3487 soil landscape of Canada polygons from 1981 to 2016. The CANBNr model integrates NH emission from fertilizers, manure from housing, storage and field, as well as direct/indirect NO emissions from fertilizers, manures, crop residues and soil organic matter.
