Objectives: The objective of this study was to identify the impact of the selected HLA-G gene polymorphisms in the 5'URR region on the risk to develop pre-eclampsia.
Background: Pre-eclampsia (PE) is a serious multisystem disorder that affects women during pregnancy. Despite many research studies, the pathology of PE is not fully understood.
Terrestrial accelerator facilities can generate ion beams which enable the testing of the resistance of materials and thin film coatings to be used in the space environment. In this work, a [Formula: see text]/Al bi-layer coating has been irradiated with a [Formula: see text] beam at three different energies. The same flux and dose have been used in order to investigate the damage dependence on the energy.

Objectives: To identify possible association between the selected HLA-G gene polymorphisms and risk of pre-eclampsia.
Background: Pre-eclampsia is a serious multisystem disorder that affects women during pregnancy. Despite many research studies, the pathology of pre-eclampsia is not fully understood.
Objective: The aim of this study was to establish the physiologic changes in hemostasis during pregnancy and to find the association between the factor V Leiden mutation and adverse pregnancy outcome.
Methods: We investigated blood samples of 148 pregnant women during each trimester of pregnancy. We measured their serum concentrations of factors I, II, V, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, D-dimers, prothrombin time, INR, aPTT, activity of protein C and S, antithrombin III and platelet count.
Over the last two to three decades, there has been a 15-25 % increase in many countries in the number of women giving birth to large infant. Fetal macrosomia is associated with an increased risk of complications both for the mother and the newborn. In current obstetrics, the macrosomic fetus represents a frequent clinical challenge.

Background: Children with type 1 diabetes (T1D) spend 4-7 h/day in school with very little supervision of their diabetes management. Therefore, families have become more dependent on technology, such as use of real-time continuous glucose monitoring (RT-CGM), to provide increased supervision of their diabetes management. We sought to assess the impact of RT-CGM use in the classroom/school environment.

Background: Although there is increasing evidence that panic attacks are common in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), little is known if posttraumatic panic is comparable to panic attacks observed in panic disorder (PD).
Objective: This study examined the cognitive responses to panic attacks in participants with PD and PTSD.
Method: Participants with PD (n=22) and PTSD (n=18) were assessed on the Anxiety Disorder Interview Schedule for DSM-IV and subsequently administered the Agoraphobic Cognitions Questionnaire and a measure of fears related to trauma memories.
Objective: To detect clinical correlates of cognitive abilities and white matter (WM) microstructural changes using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in young children with type 1 diabetes.
Research Design And Methods: Children, ages 3 to <10 years, with type 1 diabetes (n = 22) and age- and sex-matched healthy control subjects (n = 14) completed neurocognitive testing and DTI scans.
Results: Compared with healthy controls, children with type 1 diabetes had lower axial diffusivity (AD) values (P = 0.

Objective: The aim of this prospective study was to find the association between the factor V Leiden mutation and adverse pregnancy outcomes.
Methods: This study is an analysis of a prospective observational study of the frequency of placenta-mediated complications of factor V Leiden mutation carriers. We compared pregnancy outcomes of 11 women with a heterozygous form of the factor V Leiden mutation with 41 women of a control group.
Objective: To determine if frequent exposures to hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia during early childhood lead to neurocognitive deficits and changes in brain anatomy.
Research Design And Methods: In this feasibility, cross-sectional study, young children, aged 3 to 10 years, with type 1 diabetes and age- and sex-matched healthy control (HC) subjects completed neuropsychologic (NP) testing and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of the brain.
Results: NP testing and MRI scanning was successfully completed in 98% of the type 1 diabetic and 93% of the HC children.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine if the evaluation of the metabolic score is a suitable approach to assess the risk of preeclampsia.
Results: The overall number of deliveries in the study period was 2263, preeclampsia occurs in 182 cases. The evaluated metabolic score in these patients was following: 0 in 34 cases, 1 in 121 cases, 2 in 19 cases and 3 in 8 cases.

Objective: To evaluate the management of pregnancy of unknown location in our conditions and to assess possibilities to improve on the performance of it.
Methods: This was a retrospective study of a population of women classified as having PUL. Out- and inpatients were recruited.
Objective: The purpose of the present study was to examine the effectiveness of an Internet-based clinician-assisted computerized cognitive behavioural therapy programme for social phobia.
Method: A total of 105 individuals with social phobia were randomly assigned to a six-lesson cognitive behavioural treatment programme or to a waitlist control group. Treatment consisted of four components: six online lessons; homework assignments; participation in an online discussion forum; and regular email contact with a therapist.
Although we know that vision is correlated with memory performance in older adults, the implications for this in terms of neuropsychological assessment have not been investigated. Relationships among age, visual acuity, and visual and verbal memory in 89 community dwelling volunteers aged 60 to 87 years were examined. Vision was tested using the Landolt C and visual and verbal memory were assessed via the Visual Reproduction (VR) and Word List (WL) subtests from the Wechsler Memory Scale, Third Edition (WMS-III; Wechsler, 1997), respectively.

Little attention has been given to measuring symptoms of separation anxiety (SA) in adulthood. The development of an Adult Separation Anxiety Questionnaire (ASA-27) is described and compared to a previously derived Adult Separation Anxiety Semistructured Interview (ASA-SI). Principal components analysis revealed a coherent construct of SA with high internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha =.

Traumatic predictors of PTSD were examined among a subsample of 107 Tamils (refugees, asylum seekers, and voluntary immigrants) who had endorsed at least one trauma category on the Harvard Trauma Questionnaire. Principal components analysis (PCA) yielded five trauma factors that were applied to predicting PTSD scores.

At the same time, there has been a substantial increase in the number of asylum seekers who apply for refugee status after entering western countries without resettlement documents. Evidence is accruing that asylum seekers are at high risk to trauma-related psychiatric and physical disorders.
