Context: The MPOWERED core trial (NCT02685709) and open-label extension (OLE) phase investigated long-term efficacy and safety of oral octreotide capsules (OOC) in patients with acromegaly. Core trial primary endpoint data demonstrated noninferiority to injectable somatostatin receptor ligands (iSRLs). Core trial completers were invited to participate in the OLE phase.

We aimed to assess maintenance of biochemical response and symptomatic control with oral octreotide capsules versus iSRLs in patients with acromegaly who previously tolerated and responded to both.
Methods: This global, open-label, randomised controlled phase 3 trial was done in 29 clinical sites in Austria, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Russia, Serbia, Spain, and the USA.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the quantitative composition of muscle and adipose tissue in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients on the basis of dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry for the diagnosis of obesity and sarcopenia.
Methods: Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry was administered to 50 patients with T2DM. Evaluation of the composition of muscle and adipose tissue was performed.

Background: Neurogenic regulation is involved in the development of microcirculation response to local heating. We suggest that microvascular reactivity can be used to estimate the severity of diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN).
Objective: To evaluate the prospects for using the parameters of skin microvascular reactivity to determine the severity of DPN.
Medical treatment for acromegaly commonly involves receiving intramuscular or deep subcutaneous injections of somatostatin receptor ligands (SRLs) in most patients. In addition to side effects of treatment, acromegaly patients often still experience disease symptoms even when therapy is successful in controlling GH and IGF-1 levels. Symptoms and side effects can negatively impact patients' health-related quality of life.

The strategy of starting treatment with more potent regimens (zoledronic acid, denosumab and/or teriparatide) seems to have the best secondary fracture prevention efficacy.
Objective: This paper describes the various medical therapy regimens prescribed to osteoporotic patients with high fracture risk and the result of treatment.

Background: There are no large-scale epidemiological studies on primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) in Russia. The high prevalence of the disease, the high risk of disability and death in this cohort of patients requires the study of the epidemiological and clinical structure of PHPT to determine the extent of medical care.
Aim: Evaluate the frequency of PHPT detection and characterize its clinical forms in Russia using an online registry.

Unlabelled: Benign pituitary tumors are the most common sellar neoplasms. Lesions larger than 39 mm in the maximum dimension are called giant. They are rare, and, therefore, there are few data on the clinical and morphological features of giant pituitary tumors with different hormonal activity.

Materials And Methods: Cardiorespiratory monitoring was executed to 55 patients with acromegaly (18 men and 37 women): 27 patients with de novo disease, 28 patients on treatment of acromegaly (including 18 patietns with uncontrolled and 10 - with controlled acromegaly). All subgroups did not differ on sex, BMI and age.
Background: Laser Doppler flowmetry is widely used in scientific studies of blood microcirculation but constrained in clinical use due to the low diagnostic significance.
Objective: This research is aimed at creation of approaches to prognostic value increase in detection of microcirculation disorders in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Methods: The study included 10 volunteers and 10 patients with t2DM.
Introduction: Improper injection technique can negatively affect glycemic control and treatment tolerability. We assessed the impact of structured insulin injection training on glycemic control.
Methods: We compared changes in glycated hemoglobin (A1C) and fasting plasma glucose following structured insulin injection training in a 6-month pilot study in patients with type 1 or 2 diabetes.
The objective of the present study was to elucidate the anatomical features of the structure of the middle ear and eustachian tube in the breast-fed infants of different gestational age that may be responsible for the formation of exudates (fluids). We have examined 150 temporal bones obtained from the children's cadavers that were allocated to three groups as follows: 50 temporal bones obtained at weeks 26-30 weeks of gestation (group 1), 44 bones 31-36 weeks of gestation (group 2), and 37-40 weeks of gestation (full-term babies, group 3),The analysis of the data obtained on an individual bases revealed either increase or decreases in the selected characteristics of the eustachian tube in comparison with the respective average values as well as the well apparent predominance of a single change or a combination of alteration of several parameters in one case in 26-30 weeks and 31-36 weeks groups. No significant changes were found in group 1.

Laser Doppler flowmetry demonstrated vasospasm with reduced nutrient blood fl ow in the ciliary body of animals with experimental chronic glomerulonephritis with tubulointerstitial nephritis. The exposure to low-frequency pulsed electromagnetic field using developed technology will lead to significant reduction of the vascular tone and improve arterial blood supply to the microcirculatory bed.

We aimed to assess the prevalence of ECMDs in patients with acromegaly and to compare the results with those in adults without acromegaly using two population-based epidemiologic surveys. We evaluated 97 patients with acromegaly in several phases of their disease (mean age, 56 years and estimated duration of acromegaly, 12.

Materials from 100 still-born and live-born babies (200 temporal bones) were available for the investigation. The study has revealed a number of distinctive clinical and morphological peculiarities in the structure of tympanic membranes in both the prematurely born infants depending on the gestational age and in the full-term babies.

Reduced HDL and elevated LDL concentrations, increased atherogenic index and albumin toxicity index, and high blood levels of triglycerides and uric acid were early markers of pathology. Xydiphone in combination with vitamin D effectively reduced these changes and the degree of vascular calcinosis.

Influence of risk factors was estimated with Cox regression analyses. High prevalence undiagnosed glucose metabolism abnormalities among persons (24,9%) is taped; it is established that relative risk of diabetes mellitus type 2 significantly raised at persons is more than 50 years of age independently of BMI, at the same time first-degree obesity increased relative risk of diabetes mellitus type 2 in 4,3 times and third-degree obesity--in 9,0 times independently of age.

We analysed the 3-year risk of development of type 2 diabetes mellitus, total and cardiovascular mortality. RR of DM2 was significantly increased in association with practically all early disturbances of carbohydrate metabolism.
