Ketogenic diet therapy (KDT) is well established for the treatment of early epileptic encephalopathies and specific aetiologies; however, the impact on growth in infancy remains controversial. Our aim was to examine the influence of early KDT on growth velocity and height percentiles completing two tasks. First, we systematically reviewed the literature on growth in infants younger than 12 months.

Publication rates have been utilized to assess residency research learning experiences. Higher publication rates have been reported by programs that have implemented a structured research learning experience.

The organization of KDT services, the availability of multidisciplinary teams, resources and support for patients and families still vary widely around the world. This diversity is reflected by a lack of consistency in reported outcomes, optimization of using KDT and KDT compliance.

Complete weaning from breastfeeding is not required to implement KDT; however, breastfeeding remains uncommon. Barriers include feasibility concerns and lack of referrals to expert centres.

The previous manuscript "Employment Contract Financial Models for the Pain Physician: A Primer" had a goal of increasing understanding of financial models by pain fellows when preparing for contract negotiations. This manuscript illustrates the many equally important considerations of "non-monetary" values that are a significant part of contract negotiation outside of salary.

Galaxies brighter than the characteristic luminosity L* (refs. ) do not provide enough ionizing photons to drive this cosmic reionization.

After the supernova appeared in 2014, lens models of the galaxy cluster predicted that an additional image of the supernova would appear in 2015, which was subsequently observed. We use the time delays between the images to perform a blinded measurement of the expansion rate of the Universe, quantified by the Hubble constant ().

These organisms often harbor multiple resistance mechanisms, which makes it difficult to treat their associated infections. Treatment typically consists of intravenous antibiotics that are selected based on the specific susceptibility pattern for the pathogen.

Large spectroscopic surveys of distant galaxies now exist, but their sensitivity depends mainly on a galaxy's star-formation activity and dust content rather than its mass. Tracers of massive protoclusters that do not rely on their galaxy constituents are therefore needed.

Early diagnosis during childhood enables pre-emptive treatment, thus reducing the risk of severe atherosclerotic manifestations later in life. Nonetheless, FH screening programs are scarce.

An auxiliary strobe light system installed on trains in addition to existing headlights may help address this issue by providing an ergonomic way of attracting human attention to the level crossing and to the train. The objective of this paper was to investigate the ergonomics and safety potential of auxiliary strobe light systems.

Diagnosis during childhood enables early initiation of preventive measures, reducing the risk of severe consecutive atherosclerotic manifestations. Nevertheless, population-based screening programs for FH are scarce.

Methods: A consecutive cohort of patients treated with the KD were categorized according to the ILAE classification into known (structural, genetic, metabolic, infectious, and immune-mediated) and unknown etiology. Primary outcome was the frequency of patients achieving seizure freedom with the KD at 3 months, secondary outcomes were seizure reduction >50% at 3 months, and both seizure freedom and seizure reduction >50% at 6, 12 months, and at last follow-up (LFU), and adverse effects.

Objective: Vagus nerve stimulator (VNS) implantation is an established therapy for pharmacoresistant epilepsy that is not amenable to curative epilepsy surgery. Historically, VNS implantation has been performed by neurosurgeons, but otolaryngologist involvement is increasingly common. In this retrospective study, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of VNS implantation in children and adolescents from the otolaryngologists' perspective.

A retrospective analysis of all pediatric patients treated for SRSE with the KD at our center was performed using patient data from our prospective longitudinal KD database. SRSE is defined as refractory SE that continues or recurs 24 h or more after initiation of anesthetic drugs.

Background: As a reaction to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), countries around the globe have implemented various measures to reduce the spread of the virus. The transportation sector is particularly affected by the pandemic situation. The current study aims to contribute to the empirical knowledge regarding the effects of the coronavirus situation on the mobility of people by (1) broadening the perspective to the mobility rural area's residents and (2) providing subjective data concerning the perceived changes of affected persons' mobility practices, as these two aspects have scarcely been considered in research so far.

The ketogenic diet (KD), established in drug-resistant epilepsy, is combined with ASDs. Bruising and prolonged bleeding times during KD have been described, but whether hemostatic changes result from the KD or from concomitant ASDs, remains unclear.

This review focuses on the use of ketogenic diet therapies in young childhood with an emphasis on the most recent advances.
Findings: The KD has been used effectively and safely in childhood, and has increasingly been offered in infancy during the last decade.
The ketogenic diet (KD) is a high-fat and restricted carbohydrate diet for treating severe childhood epilepsy. In infants, breast milk is usually fully replaced by a ketogenic formula. At our center, mothers are encouraged to include breastfeeding into the KD if still breastfeeding.
