Rhizosphere bacterial communities of kodo millet plant was analyzed from a large metagenome sequence dataset. Plant rhizosphere samples of kodo millet was collected in replicates and the metagenomic sequence data were obtained through shotgun sequencing. Overall sequences in the dataset were 476,649 comprising total read length of 179,349,372 base pairs.

We previously reported that oxidative stress leads to a marked reduction in transcription factor Sp1 and its mediated Prdx6 expression in lens epithelial cells (LECs) leading to cell death. Herein, we examined how Sp1 activity goes awry during oxidative stress/aging, and whether it is remediable.

The HP-RHD (Himachal Pradesh Rheumatic Heart Disease) registry aimed at reporting these parameters in patients with RHD from a northern state of India.
Methods: A total of 2,005 consecutive patients of RHD were enrolled over a period of 6 years (2011 to 2016) in the present study.

Purpose: To evaluate differences in local control (LC), disease-specific (DC), and overall survival (OS) of patients with early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with single- (SF) versus 5-fraction (FF) stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) at 2 institutions.
Patients And Methods: Peripheral early-stage NSCLC cases treated with a median dose of 30 Gy in SF or a median dose of 50 Gy in FF were included per institutional practice. Kaplan-Meier and Cox models were used to assess survival.
Quercetin (QCT) is a flavonoid, abundantly present in plants and has gained considerable interest for its antioxidant property and chemo preventive activity. Bioavailability of QCT is very low due to its poor aqueous solubility and instability. Researchers are working on the application of nanotechnology to target chemotherapeutic drugs to the tumour site.

Both lesions were incidentally discovered on CT whilst undergoing a staging scan for suspected urinary bladder cancer. The patient had a background of hypertension and type 2 diabetes.

Microbial degradation of organic pollutants in the agricultural soils is a continuous process due to the metabolic multifunctionalities and enzymatic capabilities of the soil associated communities. The plant rhizosphere with its complex microbial inhabitants and their multiple functions, is amongst the most live and dynamic component of agricultural soils.

For source identification, a field campaign involving simultaneous sampling of particulate matter (PM) was conducted at eight sampling sites in the Indian mainland during winter 2014. The sampling sites include Delhi (upper IGP), Lucknow (middle IGP), and Kolkata (lower IGP) in the Indo-Gangetic Plains (IGP); Mohal-Kullu and Darjeeling in the Indo-Himalayan Range (IHR). In addition, Ajmer, located upwind of the IGP in NW-India and Giridih and Bhubaneswar, in the downwind to the IGP has also been chosen.

This has contributed to the perception that parasitic diseases are nearly non-existent in the country unless there is a history of travel to an endemic area. The increasing number of immigrants from third-world countries, tourists, and students who present with symptoms of parasitic diseases are often misdiagnosed as having irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease.

Patients of chronic lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma very often present with coexistent gut symptoms. In the present study, we have tried to establish the correlation of severity of pulmonary pathology of COPD and asthma patients with functional gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms of the patients.

Targeting such a complex disease via a single target directed treatment was found to be inefficacious. Hence, with an intention to incorporate multiple therapeutic effects within a single molecule, multitarget-directed ligands (MTDLs) have been evolved.

A potential alternative to capsaicin are the capsinoids, nonpungent capsaicin analogs that exhibit effects similar to capsaicin. Whereas the antiobesity properties of capsinoids have been reported, the effectiveness of FDA-approved synthetic dihydrocapsiate has not yet been investigated.

Cigarette smoke exposure has been found to result in excessive inflammation and tissue injury, which might lead to COPD, although the exact pathophysiology of the disease remains elusive. While previous studies have demonstrated the role of membrane-bound Toll-like receptors (TLRs) in cigarette smoke (CS)-induced inflammation, scant information is available about the role of cytosolic NOD-like receptors (NLRs) in regulating CS-mediated inflammatory responses.

Methods And Results: Lactobacillus plantarum MTCC 9510 (2 × 10 CFU per mice) was supplemented to male Swiss albino mice either subjected to chronic unpredictable mild stress or sleep deprivation (SD) stress. Various behavioural and biochemical tests along with selected gut bacterial abundances were determined.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive, life-threatening disease that causes irreversible lung damage. Cigarette smoking is the chief etiologic factor for the commencement of this condition. Despite constant efforts to develop therapeutic interventions and to ascertain the molecular mechanism leading to the pathophysiology of this disease, much remains unknown.
