Canola (Brassica napus sp.), the most important oily seed product in the world, is affected largely by salinity and drought stresses due to its ability to be planted in arid and semiarid regions. Therefore, studying potent genes involved in salt/drought stress response in canola would help improve abiotic stress tolerance.

Bone tissue engineering addresses the limitations of autologous resources and the risk of allograft disease transmission in bone diseases. In this regard, engineered three-dimensional (3D) models emerge as biomimetic alternatives to natural tissues, replicating intracellular communication. Moreover, the unique properties of super-paramagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) were shown to promote bone regeneration via enhanced osteogenesis and angiogenesis in bone models.

In this in vitro study, for the first time, we evaluate the effects of simvastatin-loaded liposome nanoparticles (SIM-LipoNPs) treatment on fibrosis-induced liver microtissues, as simvastatin (SIM) has shown potential benefits in the non-alcoholic fatty liver disease process. We developed multicellular liver microtissues composed of hepatic stellate cells, hepatoblastoma cells and human umbilical vein endothelial cells. The microtissues were supplemented with a combination of palmitic acid and oleic acid to develop fibrosis models.

Rhodamines constitute a class of dyes extensively investigated and applied in various contexts, primarily attributed to their high luminescence quantum yield. This study delves into the impact of aggregation on the thermal and optical properties of Rhodamine 6G (R-6G) solutions in distilled water. Examined properties encompass thermal diffusivity (D), temperature coefficient of the refractive index (dn/dT), fluorescence quantum efficiency (η), and energy transfer (ET).

Leishmaniasis is a group of vector-borne diseases caused by intracellular protozoan parasites belonging to the genus Leishmania. Leishmania parasites can employ different and numerous sophisticated strategies, including modulating host proteins, cell signaling, and cell responses by parasite proteins, to change the infected host conditions to favor the parasite persistence and induce pathogenesis. In this sense, protein disulfide isomerases (PDIs) have been described as crucial proteins that can be modulated during leishmaniasis and affect the pathogenesis process.

Creating a scaffold for bone tissue engineering that is bioactive and capable of acting as a local-dual delivery system, releasing bioactive molecules and regulating the bone remodeling process to achieve balanced bone resorption and formation, is a significant challenge. The objective of this research is to create a composite scaffold using chitosan/gelatin (CHS/Gel) and the calcium (Ca)-alendronate (ALN) metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). The scaffold will act as a dual-delivery system, releasing Ca ions and ALN to regulate bone formation.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the isoenzyme patterns of Echinococcus granulosus genotypes in Iran, focusing on both E. granulosus sensu stricto (s.s.) and E. canadensis types through molecular methods and enzyme analysis.
  • - A total of 32 cystic echinococcosis samples were collected from various locations, revealing that 75% were E. granulosus s.s. and 25% were E. canadensis based on DNA analysis.
  • - Results showed distinct isoenzyme patterns between the two genotypes, with variations in enzyme activities, indicating that they may possess unique biochemical characteristics.

In the era of web-based technology, the conventional instructions seem archaic and need to be replaced or improved with more novel technology-enhanced instructions (TEIs) that have been reported to enrich the instructional settings by providing further innovative teaching and learning opportunities. As a result, the present study aimed at not only examining but also comparing the effectiveness of web-mediated, blended, and purely online learning instructions on EFL learners' writing achievement in the Iranian context. Therefore, 49 homogenous participants were randomly assigned into the web-mediated leaning (WML) group that attended the workshop physically at predetermined times, the enriched virtual blended learning (EVBL) group that not only was provided with online sessions but also received compulsory in-person instructional sessions, and the purely online leaning (POL) group that merely received an online instruction.

The current research, therefore, aimed to improve the anti-cancer effect of essential oil (PAEO) in solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN). The chemical components of PAEO were assessed by gas chromatography.

There is no effective vaccine against malaria; therefore, chemotherapy is to date the only choice to fight against this infectious disease. However, there is growing evidences of drug-resistance mechanisms in malaria treatments. Therefore, the identification of new drug targets is an urgent need for the clinical management of the disease.

Background: One of the causes of maternal and fetal mortality and morbidity is pregnancy-induced hypertension, the most common form of which is preeclampsia that causes many complications for mother and fetus.

Objective: The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to determine the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and preeclampsia in Iran.

Materials And Methods: Using valid keywords in the SID database, PubMed, Scopus, data obtained from all the articles, which were reviewed in Iran between 2000 and 2016, were combined using the meta-analysis method (random-effects model) and analyzed using STATA version 11.
