Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to describe the clinical features, imaging, management, and outcomes of brown tumors (BT) of the jaws, while also reviewing existing literature to clarify debates surrounding these lesions.
  • Sixteen patients with BT linked to different forms of hyperparathyroidism were treated, revealing that the majority had primary or secondary hyperparathyroidism and that surgical intervention led to tumor regression in some cases.
  • The findings indicate that parathyroidectomy is the most effective treatment for primary hyperparathyroidism, while effective management of chronic renal insufficiency is crucial for success in treating secondary and tertiary hyperparathyroidism.

The management of deep carious lesions in immature tooth and the preservation of its pulp vitality is a real challenge in daily dental practice. Bioactive cements are of interest to deal with such cases. Our case report describes the immediate management and the follow-up of an extensive carious lesion on an immature first right mandibular molar with pulp exposure by direct pulp capping using Biodentine.

Intraosseous unicystic ameloblastoma (UA) is a rare subtype of a true neoplasm of odontogenic epithelial origin: ameloblastoma. Despite its rareness, dealing with UA is problematic. It is usually mistaken for an odontogenic cyst, and biopsy is rarely relevant because of its multiple growth patterns.

Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) is a distinct part of severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs). It is characterized by fever, rash, hematologic abnormalities, lymphadenopathy, or/and different degrees of visceral organ involvement. Central odontogenic fibroma is an uncommon, benign, slow-growing intraosseous mesenchymal odontogenic tumour. It presents a diagnostic dilemma to the clinician and the pathologist because its clinical and radiological features resemble other odontogenic and/or non-odontogenic tumours, and the differential diagnosis is based on histological examination. In this report, we describe our experience with a case of a 23-year-old female patient with central odontogenic fibroma of the mandible that was diagnosed as 'simple type'.

The first case is about a 72-year-old female patient who was diagnosed with a large B-cell lymphoma while the second one concerns a 16-year-old male patient who was diagnosed with a Burkitt's lymphoma.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate how effective transilluminated photography is compared to reflected photography in detecting enamel opacities.
  • Standardized photos were taken of patients' teeth under both lighting conditions, and ratios of opacity to total buccal enamel were calculated to determine effectiveness.
  • Results showed transilluminated photography provided a significantly higher detection ratio of enamel opacities, indicating it is a better method for distinguishing healthy from unhealthy enamel.

Stained enamel opacities are frequently encountered in dental practice. However, due to the risk of unaesthetic outcome, managing such lesions by resin infiltration techniques alone is not advised. Therefore, performing external bleaching before resin infiltration procedure is mandatory to eliminate stains from the hypomineralized lesions in order to aesthetically infiltrate them.

According to the American Association of Endodontists, "a 'true' vertical root fracture is defined as a complete or incomplete fracture initiated from the root at any level, usually directed buccolingually." Vertical root fracture (VRF) usually starts from an internal dentinal crack and develops over time, due to masticatory forces and occlusal loads. When they occur in teeth, those types of fractures can present difficulties in diagnosis, and there are however many clinic and radiographical signs which can guide clinicians to the existence of the fracture.
