Purpose: Renal ultrasounds are performed in patients with myelomeningocele to screen for markers of kidney health, including hydronephrosis. We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of hydronephrosis to screen for low kidney function defined by estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR).
Materials And Methods: We performed a retrospective cross-sectional study using data from 2 cohorts of children and youth with myelomeningocele.
Initial urologic management of pediatric neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) includes clean intermittent catheterization (CIC) regimen and use of anticholinergic or beta3 agonist medications. Historically, NLUTD that did not respond to these initial management strategies received open surgical procedures such as augmentation cystoplasty (AC) to increase bladder capacity and create a lower-pressure reservoir. Purpose Of The Review: In this article, we explore the origins of intervention of fetal lower urinary tract obstruction, and we specifically discuss the background and recent outcomes of vesicoamniotic shunt placement and fetal cystoscopy. The article seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of the field while bringing the reader quickly up to speed on the pertinent literature and the critical data that are available to guide decision-making regarding intervention.
Recent Findings: Appropriate patient selection for fetal intervention remains challenging despite advances in prenatal imaging.
Purpose: Urodynamic findings often guide treatment for neuropathic bladder and are reported as objective data points in multi-institutional trials. However, urodynamic interpretation can be variable. In a pilot study pediatric urologists interpreting videourodynamics exhibited only moderate agreement despite similar training and practice patterns.

We hypothesized that ultrasound stimulation of the posterior tibial nerve would inhibit bladder contractions in an established rat model of rhythmic bladder contractions.
Methods: Cyclical detrusor contractions were initiated by placing a transurethral catheter in female rats and infusing saline into the bladder.
Purpose: We previously reported catheterizable channel associated outcomes and concluded that the incidence of postoperative complications was greatest in the first 2 years after surgery. At that time our followup was short. In this series we sought to determine whether complications continued to accumulate with longer followup in an updated cohort of patients.
