Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) is a process to promote optimal recovery after a variety of operations utilized by many surgical specialities. This evidence- based series of interventions was developed to decrease the physiological stress and risks associated with surgery. In April of 2023, Enhanced Recovery Canada released its new Clinical Pathway for cesarean delivery.

Introduction: This antenatal screening review will include reproductive screening evidence and approaches for pre-conception and post-conception, using first to third trimester screening opportunities.
Methods: Focused antenatal screening peer-reviewed publications were evaluated and summarized.
Results: Evidenced-based reproductive antenatal screening elements should be offered and discussed, with the pregnancy planning or pregnant person, during Preconception (genetic carrier screening for reproductive partners, personal and family (including reproductive partner) history review for increased genetic and pregnancy morbidity risks); First Trimester (fetal dating with ultrasound; fetal aneuploidy screening plus consideration for expanded fetal morbidity criteria, if appropriate; pregnant person preeclampsia screening; early fetal anatomy screening; early fetal cardiac screening); Second Trimester for standard fetal anatomy screening (18-22 weeks) including cardiac; pregnant person placental and cord pathology screening; pregnant person preterm birth screening with cervical length measurement); Third Trimester (fetal growth surveillance; continued preterm birth risk surveillance).
Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the world's leading infectious disease killers, despite available treatments. Although highly sensitive molecular diagnostics are available, expensive equipment and poor infrastructure have hindered their implementation in low-resource settings. Furthermore, the collection of sputum poses challenges as it is difficult for patients to produce and creates dangerous aerosols.

Materials And Methods: This focused scoping review has used a structured process for article identification and inclusion for each of the focused surgeries.
Results: The review results provide an obstetrical surgery (OS) overview for caesarean delivery, vaginal birth after caesarean delivery and/or trial of labor after caesarean delivery, operative vaginal delivery, placenta accreta spectrum; considerations for quality and safety variance due to non-clinical human factors; quality improvement (QI) tools; OS QI implementation cohorts; implementation considering certain barriers and solutions.

To cope with the global climate crisis and assist in achieving the carbon neutrality, the use of biomass materials to fully or partially replace petroleum-based products and unrenewable resources is expected to become a widespread solution. Based on the analysis of the existing literature, this paper firstly classified biomass materials with potential application prospects in pavement engineering according to their application and summarized their respective preparation methods and characteristics. The pavement performance of asphalt mixtures with biomass materials was analyzed and summarized, and the economic and environmental benefits of bio-asphalt binder were evaluated.

A PubMed literature search was conducted, and the peer-reviewed literature on IBDs was evaluated and summarized. Best-practice considerations for screening, diagnosis and management of IBDs in female adolescents and adults, with GRADE (Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations) evidence level and ranking of recommendation strength, are presented.

The associated DS regulations, particularly in manufacturing and marketing, are far more flexible and permissive than that of the well-regulated prescription pharmaceuticals. However, the adverse health effects associated with the inadvertent use of mega-doses of DS are not well understood.

We sought to evaluate maternal and neonatal outcomes among patients with a previous cesarean delivery by hospital tier and volume.
Methods: We carried out an ecological study of singleton live births delivered at term gestation to patients with a previous cesarean delivery in all Canadian hospitals (excluding Quebec), 2013-2019.

Cesarean delivery (CD) is a surgical delivery of a neonate with surgical access through the maternal abdominal and uterine structures. The Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol is a standardized perioperative care program and surgery quality improvement process that has had global spread across numerous surgical disciplines. The medical and surgical use of opioids for pain management and the nonmedical opioid use, over the last three decades, have significantly increased the prevalence of abuse and addiction to opioids.
