DTG/3TC is approved for antiretroviral therapy (ART)-naive people with HIV-1 and virologically suppressed individuals to replace current ART; DTG/RPV is indicated for virologically suppressed individuals as a switch option. Virologic efficacy and effectiveness of these DTG-based 2DRs have been demonstrated in phase 3 clinical trials and real-world cohorts, primarily from Europe.

Loss of the MAM-resident protein WFS1 causes Wolfram syndrome (WS), a rare early-onset neurodegenerative disease that has been linked to mitochondrial abnormalities. Here we demonstrate mitochondrial dysfunction in human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neuronal cells of WS patients.

Background: Mass spectrometry-based proteomics and glycomics reveal post-translational modifications providing significant biological insights beyond the scope of genomic sequencing.
Aim: To characterize the N-linked glycoproteomic profile in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) two complementary approaches.
Methods: Using tandem multilectin affinity chromatography for enrichment of N-linked glycoproteins, we performed N-linked glycoproteomic profiling in ESCC tissues by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE)-based and isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ) labeling-based mass spectrometry quantitation in parallel, followed by validation of candidate glycoprotein biomarkers by Western blot.
Background: The timing and magnitude of antiretroviral therapy-associated weight change attributions are unclear.
Setting: HIV Outpatient Study participants.
Methods: We analyzed 2007-2018 records of virally suppressed (VS) persons without integrase inhibitor (INSTI) experience who switched to either INSTI-based or another non-INSTI-based ART, and remained VS.
Background: Three-quarters of bladder cancer patients present with early-stage disease (non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer, NMIBC, UICC TNM stages Ta, T1 and Tis); however, most next-generation sequencing studies to date have concentrated on later-stage disease (muscle-invasive BC, stages T2+). We used exome and transcriptome sequencing to comprehensively characterise NMIBCs of all grades and stages to identify prognostic genes and pathways that could facilitate treatment decisions. Tumour grading is based upon microscopy and cellular appearances (grade 1 BCs are less aggressive, and grade 3 BCs are most aggressive), and we chose to also focus on the most clinically complex NMIBC subgroup, those patients with grade 3 pathological stage T1 (G3 pT1) disease.

STAG2 protein expression is easily determined via immunohistochemistry (IHC) and published data suggest that loss of STAG2 expression is a good prognostic indicator in NMIBC.
Objective: To confirm the relationship between protein expression and clinical outcomes and tumour characteristics in NMIBC.
Background: There is an unmet need for an accurate, validated, noninvasive test for diagnosing and monitoring bladder cancer (BC). Detection of BC-associated mutations in urinary DNA via targeted deep sequencing could meet this need.

Background: Age blunts CD4+ lymphocyte cell count/μl (CD4+) improvements observed with antiretroviral therapy (ART)-induced viral suppression among people with HIV (PWH). Prolonged viral suppression reduces immune dysregulation, reflected by rising CD4+/CD8+ ratios (CD4+/CD8+). There is considerable evidence of a positive association between the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity with bladder cancer (BCa), with the link between T2DM and obesity having already been established. There also appear to be potential associations between Pleckstrin homology domain containing S1 ( and the Insulin-like Growth Factor (IGF) axis. View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Dolutegravir-based 2-drug regimens (DTG 2DRs) are now accepted as alternatives to 3-drug regimens for HIV antiretroviral treatment (ART); however, literature on physician drivers for prescribing DTG 2DR is sparse. This study evaluated treatment patterns of DTG 2DR components in clinical practice in the US.
Methods: This was a retrospective chart review in adult patients in care in the US with HIV-1 who received DTG 2DR prior to July 31, 2017, with follow-up until January 30, 2018.
Circularized transcript isoforms due to back-splicing are increasingly being reported in different tissues types and pathological states including cancer. Since these circular RNAs (circRNAs) are more stable than linear messenger RNA their identification and profiling in tumor tissue could aid in stratifying patients and may serve as biomarkers. In this study, we have investigated the relationship between circRNA expression and tumor grade in a cohort of 58, mostly non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer patients.
