Background: Obinutuzumab was approved in China in June 2021 used in combination with chemotherapy (followed by obinutuzumab maintenance) for the treatment of adult patients with previously untreated stage II bulky, III, or IV follicular lymphoma (FL). The clinical application of obinutuzumab has recently begun in China, but there is a lack of evidence to determine under which circumstances it should be considered the treatment of choice. A comprehensive assessment is necessary to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness of obinutuzumab in adult patients with FL.

While thermoelectric conversion by a thermocapacitive cycle has been considered a promising green technology for low-grade heat recovery, our study finds that its practical feasibility is overestimated. During thermal charging, the coexistence and dynamic competition between thermal-induced voltage rise and self-discharge lead to the limitations of the thermocapacitive cycle. Therefore, the operational conditions in the charge-heat-discharge steps seriously restrict the thermal charging performance.

Laparoscopic exploration (LE) is crucial for diagnosing intra-abdominal metastasis (IAM) in advanced gastric cancer (GC). However, overlooking single, tiny, and occult IAM lesions during LE can severely affect the treatment and prognosis due to surgeons' visual misinterpretations. To address this, we developed the artificial intelligence laparoscopic exploration system (AiLES) to recognize IAM lesions with various metastatic extents and locations.

Over the past decades, emerging bioplastics have attracted much interest from the scientific and industrial communities because of public concerns about environmental problems and sustainable development. In this study, poly(lactic acid) (PLA) was toughened by ductile biodegradable poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) and biosourced plasticizer epoxidized linseed oil (ELO), and a chain-extending agent (CEA) was added to promote the compatibility and toughness of the bio-blends. It was shown that "in situ" grafted polymers were created in the bio-blends with the aid of CEA, greatly enhancing the compatibility and ductility of the compatibilized blends.

Background: The demand for total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is increasing, yet postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) significantly hinder patient recovery. Preoperative prophylactic administration of glucocorticoids can alleviate PONV, with betamethasone showing promising results in breast and cardiac surgeries. However, its efficacy in TKA patients remains unclear.

Deep eutectic solvent (DES)-based eutectogels show significant promise for flexible sensors due to their high ionic conductivity, non-volatility, biocompatibility, and cost-effectiveness. However, achieving tough and stretchable eutectogels is challenging, as the highly polar DES tends to screen noncovalent bonds, such as hydrogen and ionic bonds, between polymer chains, limiting their mechanical strength. In this work, this issue is addressed by leveraging the limited solubility of zwitterionic polymers in a specific DES to induce phase separation, promoting dipole-dipole interactions between polymer chains.

Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is a rare but one of the most lethal types of human cancer. Although increasing evidence demonstrated that ATC tumors had a high mutation burden, little is known about the aberrancy of the noncoding genome of ATC except the well-investigated () promoter mutations. The mutational statuses of 5' untranslated region (5'UTR), intron 6, and promoters, as well as the promoter and mutations were determined using Sanger sequencing in 28 patients with ATC (19 women and 9 men) with a median (interquartile range) age of 64 (55-71) years, 14 thyroid cancer cell lines and a normal thyroid cell line.

Metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1), is a long non-coding RNA localized in the cell nucleus, known for its multifunctional roles, including potential involvement in spermatogenesis. This study investigates the mechanism by which MALAT1 dysregulation contributes to the pathogenesis of idiopathic non-obstructive azoospermia (iNOA). We analyzed MALAT1 levels in two gene expression profiling datasets comprising patients with obstructive azoospermia (OA) who have normal spermatogenesis and 13 patients with iNOA.

The motility of bacteria is crucial for navigating competitive environments and is closely linked to physiological activities essential for their survival, such as biofilm development. Precise regulation of bacterial motility enhances our understanding of these complex processes. While optogenetic tools have been used to control and investigate bacterial motility, the excitation light in most existing systems are limited to the visible light spectrum.

A fluorescent probe composed of 2-mercaptopyridine-copper nanoparticles (2MP-CuNPs) was synthesized through a hydrothermal method utilizing CuCl and 2-mercaptopyridine (2MP). The experimental results indicate that the 2MP-CuNPs probe exhibited an excellent fluorescence emission peak at 525 nm with an excitation wavelength of 200 nm. Furthermore, this emission peak was accompanied by a substantial Stokes shift of 325 nm, which effectively minimized the overlap between the excitation and emission spectra, thereby enhancing detection sensitivity.

Visualizing surgical scenes is crucial for revealing internal anatomical structures during minimally invasive procedures. Novel View Synthesis is a vital technique that offers geometry and appearance reconstruction, enhancing understanding, planning, and decision-making in surgical scenes. Despite the impressive achievements of Neural Radiance Field (NeRF), its direct application to surgical scenes produces unsatisfying results due to two challenges: endoscopic sparse views and significant photometric inconsistencies.

MR images with high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) provide more diagnostic information. Various methods for MRI denoising have been developed, but the majority of them operate on the magnitude image and neglect the phase information. Therefore, the goal of this work is to design and implement a complex-valued convolutional neural network (CNN) for MRI denoising.

The purification and recovery of chloride electrolyte molten salts are vital to reuse this valuable species and reduce the waste. Vacuum distillation method was used to investigate the recovery efficiency of LiCl-KCl mixed molten salt containing 20 wt% ThF. Rapid mass loss in the initial stage and the subsequent lower evaporation rate were significantly observed under 1173 K and 20 Pa due to the coordination species such as LiThF and LiThF.

Many countries are experiencing a post-pandemic surge in hospital utilization along with accelerating population aging. Maximal hospital efficiency is required, with utilization evidence essential for identifying appropriate hospital or broader health system reforms. We offer an investigation of the most recent pre-COVID year (2019-2020) of complete population-based hospital utilization data to describe and compare the use of hospitals by older (65+) and younger (0-64) people admitted for inpatient services in Canada.

In urine drug testing, a cut-off value is often imposed to determine whether the sample is negative or positive. A matrix containing a reference substance helps counteract the adverse effects of the urine matrix across different laboratories to improve the consistency of final results. However, as a biological matrix, urine is prone to corruption and other problems that make it difficult to use as a reference sample.

Colorectal cancer plays a dominant role in cancer-related deaths, primarily due to the absence of obvious early-stage symptoms. Whole-stage colorectal disease diagnosis is crucial for assessing lesion evolution and determining treatment plans. However, locality difference and disease progression lead to intra-class disparities and inter-class similarities for colorectal lesion representation.
