Cardiovascular diseases represent the principal cause of death and comorbidity among people with diabetes. Ferroptosis, an iron-dependent non-apoptotic regulated cellular death characterized by lipid peroxidation, is involved in the pathogenesis of diabetic cardiovascular diseases. The susceptibility to ferroptosis in diabetic hearts is possibly related to myocardial iron accumulation, abnormal lipid metabolism and excess oxidative stress under hyperglycemia conditions.

Light-spin coupling is an attractive phenomenon from the standpoints of fundamental physics and device applications, and has spurred rapid development recently. Whereas the current efforts are devoted to trivial magnetism, the interplay between light and nontrivial spin properties of topological magnetism is little known. Here, using first principles, rt-TDDFT and atomic spin simulations, the evolution of topological spin properties of monolayer CrInSe under laser is explored, establishing the ultrafast ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic skyrmion reversal.

Introduction: We intended to compare the predictive value for all-cause and cardiovascular deaths between estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) derived from the European Kidney Function Consortium (EKFC) cystatin C-based formula, the EKFC creatinine-based formula, and Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) cystatin C- or creatinine-based formulas.

Methods: Overall, 4,132 participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey between 1999 and 2002 were included, and death information was obtained through the National Death Index. To compare predictive accuracy between EKFC eGFRcys (EKFC cystatin C-based formula), CKD-EPI eGFRcys (CKD-EPI cystatin C-based formula), EKFC eGFRcr (EKFC creatinine-based formula), and CKD-EPI eGFRcr (CKD-EPI creatinine-based formula), we conducted time-dependent receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves and reclassification analysis.

Risk-taking is a concerning yet prevalent issue during adolescence and can be life-threatening. Examining its etiological sources and evolving pathways helps inform strategies to mitigate adolescents' risk-taking behavior. Studies have found that unfavorable environmental factors, such as adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), are associated with momentary levels of risk-taking in adolescents, but little is known about whether ACEs shape the developmental trajectory of risk-taking.

Noninvasive fluorescence detection of tumor-associated biomarker dynamics provides immediate insights into tumor biology, which are essential for assessing the efficacy of therapeutic interventions, adapting treatment strategies, and achieving personalized diagnosis and therapy evaluation. However, due to the absence of a single biomarker that effectively reflects tumor development and progression, the currently available optical diagnostic agents that rely on "always-on" or single pathological activation frequently show nonspecific fluorescence responses and limited tumor accumulation, which inevitably compromises the accuracy and reliability of tumor imaging. Herein, based on intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) and twisted intramolecular charge-transfer (TICT) hybrid mechanisms, we report a tandem-locked probe, , for simultaneously specific imaging-guided tumor resection and ferroptosis-mediated tumor ablation evaluation under the coactivation of nitro reductase (NTR)/viscosity.

Fluorescence imaging in the second near-infrared window (NIR-II) is crucial for accurate tumor diagnosis, offering superior resolution and penetration capabilities. Current NIR-II probes are limited by either being "always on" or responding to one stimulus, leading to low signal-to-noise ratios and potential false positives. We introduced a dual-lock-controlled probe, HN-PBA, activated by both HO and tumor acidic environment.
