Purpose: To present a new restorative technique for the restoration of teeth with deep subgingival hard tissue defects extending down to the osseous crest without additional surgical or orthodontic interventions by combining mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and composite material.

Materials And Methods: The MTA matrix technique starts by deeply inserting a metal matrix as far down to the bone level as possible. The matrix should then be fixated with a matrix holder in its end position.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores the prevalence of endodontic-periodontal lesions (EPLs) based on a new classification system established in 2017, highlighting a need for related epidemiological data.
  • A total of 1,008 panoramic radiographs were analyzed, revealing an EPL prevalence of 4.9% among patients and 0.4% among teeth, with significant differences in bone loss and age in patients with EPLs compared to those without.
  • The findings indicate that patients with EPLs generally have more severe periodontal conditions, primarily being classified as at least stage II periodontitis.

Objectives: Orthognathic surgery is a well-established procedure for skeletal deformities. Beneficial influences to the posterior airway space (PAS) have been described, but little is known about the subjective aesthetical and functional nasal aspects after orthognathic surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate nasal airflow by anterior rhinomanometry and volumetric changes in the nasal airway space after mono- or bimaxillary surgery using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and a new segmentation software.
