Article Synopsis
  • Rheological abnormalities in patients with peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) may influence restenosis after femoropopliteal percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA).
  • In a study of 114 patients, higher baseline plasma viscosity and lower platelet count were linked to a greater risk of restenosis within 12 months post-procedure.
  • Key factors identified as contributing to restenosis included increased plasma viscosity, low platelet count, longer lesion length, and the absence of hypertension.
