Objective: To identify risk factors for clinically-important drowning-associated lung injury (ciDALI) in children.
Study Design: This was a cross-sectional study of children (0 through 18 years) who presented to 32 pediatric emergency departments (EDs) from 2010 through 2017. We reviewed demographics, comorbidities, prehospital data, chest radiographs reports, and ED course from emergency medical services, medical, and fatality records.
Introduction: Racial and ethnic inequities persist in receipt of prenatal care, mental health services, and addiction treatment for pregnant and postpartum individuals with substance use disorder (SUD). Further qualitative work is needed to understand the intersectionality of racial and ethnic discrimination, stigma related to substance use, and gender bias on perinatal SUD care from the perspectives of affected individuals.
Methods: Peer interviewers conducted semi-structured qualitative interviews with recently pregnant people of color with SUD in Massachusetts to explore the impact of internalized, interpersonal, and structural racism on prenatal, birthing, and postpartum experiences.
Unlabelled: Infant tuberculosis (TB) is a rare but potentially deadly infection and difficult to diagnose, especially in infants who may present with non-specific symptoms. Methods: This retrospective cohort study included dyads with a maternal history of cannabis use who underwent peripartum toxicology testing between 2016 and 2020 at 5 birthing hospitals in Massachusetts. We collected information on maternal demographic characteristics and toxicology test results and reviewed records of dyads with unexpected positive results to identify additional social risk factors and clinical outcomes.
The applicability of inhalation therapy to some severe pulmonary conditions is often compromised by limited delivery rates (i.e. total dose) and low deposition efficiencies in the respiratory tract, most notably in the deep pulmonary acinar airways.

Bridgmanite, the most abundant lower-mantle mineral, can incorporate extensive amounts of iron (Fe) with effects on various geophysical properties. Objective: We studied changes in clinical findings and chest radiograph findings and determined the sensitivity/specificity of the presenting chest radiograph in predicting clinical improvement within the first 24 h in pediatric submersion cases.
Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in southern Africa. Early trials of chest radiograph-based screening in males at high risk for lung cancer found no mortality benefit of a radiograph alone, or a radiograph plus sputum cytology screening strategy. Large prospective studies, including the National Lung Screening Trial, have shown an all-cause mortality benefit when low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) was used as a screening modality in patients that are at high risk of developing lung cancer.

Materials And Methods: Data from the first 16 months after PCI were reviewed: number of case reviews performed, number of learning opportunities identified, percentage yield of learning opportunities identified, type of learning opportunities identified, and comparison of the previous parameters between case randomly reviewed versus actively pushed (issues actively identified and entered). Changes in actively pushed cases were also assessed as volume per month over the 16 months (run chart).
Urinary tract infection (UTI) is common in young children and may cause pyelonephritis and renal scarring. Long-term complications from renal scarring are low. The role of imaging is to evaluate for underlying urologic abnormalities and guide treatment.
