Breast cancer is the most common malignancy that affects women. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an essential role in cancer therapy and regulate many biological processes such as cisplatin resistance. The study's objective was to determine whether miR-182 dysregulation was the cause of cisplatin resistance in TNBC cell line MDA-MB-231.

Montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist (LTRA) approved for the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis, is widely used, though real-world data on its application in asthma management remain limited. This registry-based study evaluated the use of montelukast in adult asthma patients, examining demographic and disease characteristics, asthma control status, asthma phenotypes, presence of atopy, and treatment regimens. Among 2053 patients analyzed, 61.

Cervicovaginal (CV) microbiota is critical for the well-being of host. We investigated the relationship between the ratio of (LB) and (C/CB)-type microbial cells with biofilm formation of CV mixed cultures of women with no inflammation/infection or any epithelial abnormalities in Pap-stained smears Group 1 (G1) corresponds to the flora with LB-type cells alone, whereas G2 corresponds to the LB-dominated flora. G3 contains balanced LB and C/CB cells and G4 is dominated with C/CB.

Current guidelines recommend adding long-acting muscarinic antagonists (LAMAs) in patients with uncontrolled asthma, despite the use of moderate to high doses of inhaled steroid-long-acting beta agonists (ICS/LABA). This study aims to analyze the factors related to the prescription of add-on LAMA in clinical practice for asthma patients, shedding light on physicians' preferences. This study included adult asthma patients on add-on LAMA and ICS/LABA monitored for at least one year in a national registry comprising 2053 asthmatics.

Onion skin constitutes a major part of industrial food waste, and cold plasma technology can be employed in the treatment of onion skin. Onion skin waste was ground and exposed to dielectric barrier discharge cold plasma (DBDCP) at 40 kV for 10 or 20 min. Samples that were not DBDCP treated were used as the control.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study discusses a unique case of a patient with a rare variation of the ophthalmic artery, originating from the anterior inferior cerebellar artery rather than its usual location.
  • - The patient also had a history of Moyamoya disease, and imaging showed additional complications, including a fusiform aneurysm and vasculitis, as well as a middle meningeal artery branching from the ophthalmic artery.
  • - The report aims to contribute to the limited existing literature on ophthalmic artery anatomical variations, highlighting the significance of this rare case.

This paper focused on the effectiveness of a parent empowerment intervention based on nursing education (PEINE). This study examined whether the intervention improved the quality of life of children with cystic fibrosis (CF) and improved their caregivers learn about the disease and develop problem-solving and coping skills. This randomized-controlled trial used a pretest-posttest parallel-group research design.

  • Hymenoptera venom allergy (HVA) is a major cause of severe allergic reactions; a study analyzed 76 adults and 36 children to explore clinical features and immunologic changes after venom immunotherapy (VIT).
  • Cardiovascular symptoms were more common in adults, while children primarily experienced skin reactions; risk factors for severe reactions included lower urticaria rates and higher serum tryptase levels in adults.
  • VIT significantly increased specific immunoglobulin G4 (sIgG4) levels in patients, with notable increases seen in Apis and Vespula groups, showing different allergic responses between adults and children after one year of treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the relationship between skin disorders and genetic variations in the Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene among women with a poor obstetric history.
  • It analyzed data from a cohort of 472 women, categorizing skin diseases into seven types, and found a significant association between specific MTHFR polymorphisms and skin disorders, particularly psoriasis vulgaris and acrochordons.
  • The research suggests that the presence of these genetic variants may play a critical role in both dermatological health and obstetric history, highlighting the need for targeted preconception counseling for women with skin issues.

The cervicovaginal microbiota is an essential aspect of women's reproductive and overall health. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the probiotic properties of a cervicovaginal isolate, obtained from a gynecologically healthy woman and assess its antagonistic effect against various microorganisms isolated from the vagina. Cytological examination was performed using Papanicolaou staining, and the isolated microorganism was identified via 16S Ribosomal RNA Gene Sequence Analysis.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the effects of increased Activated Protein C resistance, decreased antithrombin III activity, and hypocomplementemia on pregnancy outcomes in patients with MTHFR polymorphisms.
  • In a sample of 83 pregnancies, having at least one of these risk factors was linked to higher rates of newborns with low APGAR scores, indicating poorer health at birth.
  • The findings suggest that hypocomplementemia, in particular, is a significant risk factor for adverse pregnancy outcomes in this population.

Background: Placenta-related obstetric complications (PROCs) such as miscarriage, fetal growth restriction, preeclampsia, and preterm birth are the major causes of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. The objective of this study was to search the relevance of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) polymorphisms and co-morbidities and the risk factors for PROCs such as miscarriage, fetal growth restriction, preeclampsia, and preterm birth.

Method: This retrospective study analyzed the PAI-1 genotype in a cohort of 268 multiparous women with poor obstetric history.

Introduction: National data on asthma characteristics and the factors associated with uncontrolled asthma seem to be necessary for every country. For this purpose, we developed the Turkish Adult Asthma Registry for patients with asthma aiming to take a snapshot of our patients, thereby assigning the unmet needs and niche areas of intervention.

Methods: Case entries were performed between March 2018 and March 2022.

This experimental study, which was conducted to examine the necessity of aspiration procedure and its effect on pain in intramuscular (IM) injections made into the ventrogluteal site (VGS), is randomized controlled and double-blind. The patients in the study group ( = 834) were assigned to the IM group with the aspiration period of 5 to 10 seconds (Implementation Group A-IGA), the aspiration period of 1 to 2 seconds (Control Group-CG), and no aspiration (Implementation Group B-IGB) according to stratified block randomization list. Patients' pain levels were evaluated with the Visual Analog Scale (VAS).
