Irinotecan hydrochloride (CPT-11) is one of the first-line drugs used in the clinical treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC). However, the concomitant adverse effect of delayed diarrhea has hindered its clinical use. CPT-11 combined with Thalidomide (THA) therapy is considered a palliative strategy.

Gut microbiota-mediated endobiotic and xenobiotic metabolism play crucial roles in disease progression, and drug therapy/toxicity. Our recent study suggested that gut microbiota-mediated xanthine metabolism is correlated with resistance to high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity. Here, we explored the role of host-gut microbial xanthine co-metabolism in the prevention and treatment of HFD-induced obesity by orally administration of Bifidobacterium longum, xanthine, and a xanthine oxidase inhibitor (topiroxostat).

polysaccharides exhibit great potential to be developed as anti-obesity and prebiotic health products, but the underlying mechanism has not been adequately addressed. In this study, we investigated the potential mechanism of a polysaccharide fraction (SjC) in preventing high-fat-diet (HFD)-induced obesity in mice using 16S rRNA gene and shotgun metagenomic sequencing analysis. SjC was characterized as a 756 kDa sulfated polysaccharide and 16 weeks of SjC supplementation significantly alleviated HFD-induced obesity, insulin resistance, and glucose metabolism disorders.

To investigate the protective effect of edaravone on chlorpyrifos-induced neuronal apoptosis and its mitochondrial mechanism. Under the principle of randomization and double-blindness, the rats were divided into control group, chlorpyrifos group, and edaravone group (=6). The rats in edaravone group were treated with edaravone (10 mg/1.

Low molecular weight seaweed polysaccharides exhibit promising potential as novel therapeutics for the prevention of obesity and gut microbiota dysbiosis. The interplay between polysaccharides and gut microbiota may play crucial roles in their anti-obesity effects, but is largely unknown, including the impact of polysaccharides on the composition of the gut microbiota with polysaccharide-degrading capacity. The primary structure of a 5.

In December of 2019, a novel coronavirus, which is SARS-CoV-2, broke out in the world and caused tremendous human and financial losses. According to a descriptive study by the relative hospital about the epidemiological and clinical features of 52 critically ill patients, the expert panel found that people with cardiovascular disease and diabetes comprise a large proportion of the patients with chronic disease. In this review, we discuss the structural biology of the SARS-CoV-2 in combination with the characteristics of its binding protein, ACE2, which is an important receptor in the cardiovascular system and may have potential relationships with various diabetic diseases.
