  • Tea leaf spot, caused by the fungus Didymella segeticola, significantly reduces tea yield and quality in high-mountain plantations of Southwest China due to a lack of understanding and control measures.
  • The infection process involves the germination of conidia on leaf surfaces, leading to necrotic lesions and damage to chloroplasts, which affects the leaf's structural integrity.
  • Through transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses, researchers identified two crucial genes (DsHAD and DsADH) that influence the fungus's virulence and its response to oxidative stress, providing insights for developing management strategies.

To investigate the ocean contamination caused by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), UiO-67/perfluorooctanoic acid (UiO-67/PFOA) was synthesized through solvent-assisted ligand incorporation method. The UiO-67/PFOA was then served as an adsorbent in headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) technology for collecting and concentrating trace PAHs. The addition of the PFOA improved the hydrophobicity and stability of the UiO-67/PFOA coating, and the C-F functional group in UiO-67/PFOA could form the pseudo hydrogen bonding with the CH on the benzene ring of PAHs, which endowed the UiO-67/PFOA with 1.

In order to improve the enrichment performance of parent covalent organic frameworks (COFs), boronic acid functionalized of COF (COF-B(OH)) was obtained by a simple standing method for the first time. The obtained COF-B(OH) exhibited the new characteristics that were not possessed by pure COF and was employed as the solid phase microextraction (SPME) coating material for highly efficient enrichment of trace endocrine disruptors phthalates (PAEs). Compared to pure COF, the synergistic effect of the newly emerged unique pore structure and boric acid interaction sites, and the large specific surface area and the abundant benzene ring structure inherited by original COF framework endowed COF-B(OH) with enhanced enrichment performance for PAEs.

This study investigates the influence of CYP3A4 gene polymorphisms on postoperative pain sensitivity and analgesic response in lung cancer patients undergoing intercostal nerve block with local anesthetics. Sixty patients (ages 31-74) undergoing thoracoscopic lung cancer surgery were enrolled and divided into two groups based on CYP3A4 gene expression level: Group I (high CYP3A4) and Group II (low CYP3A4). Postoperative pain was assessed using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and patient-controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) pump usage, ECG ST-T segment changes, complications, hospital stay, and costs were recorded.

Epsilon toxin (ETX), a potential agent of biological and toxic warfare, causes the death of many ruminants and threatens human health. It is crucial to understand the toxic mechanism of such a highly lethal and rapid course toxin. In this study, we detected the effects of ETX on the proteome and phosphoproteome of MDCK cells after 10 min and 30 min.

Background: Tea is an important cash crop and buds are its main product. To elucidate the molecular mechanism of the sprouting time of tea plants, 'Yuchunzao', which was an early sprouting tea cultivar, was studied. 'Echa 1', sprout one week later than 'Yuchunzao' in spring, was used as the control.

Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the effect of land use/land cover (LULC) and soil depth on soil carbon storage, through the manipulation of external carbon input and turnover processes, is crucial for accurate predictions of regional soil carbon storage. Numerous research investigations have been conducted to examine the impact of LULC on the storage and cycling of carbon in the surface soils of coastal wetlands. Nevertheless, there remains a dearth of understanding concerning the implications of this phenomenon on subterranean soils, a crucial factor in discerning the capacity for carbon sequestration in coastal wetlands and implementing measures for their preservation.

Nanotechnology has attracted increasing attention in the field of medical applications due to its significant potential for development. However, one major challenge that has emerged with nanoparticles is their tendency to activate the host immune clearance system, which hampers the achievement of desired therapeutic outcomes and may lead to harmful side effects. In recent years, membrane-coated nanoparticles have emerged as a promising solution, demonstrating their effectiveness in evading immune system clearance.

This study aimed to develop an optimal radiomics model for preoperatively predicting microsatellite instability (MSI) in patients with rectal cancer (RC) based on multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging. The retrospective study included 308 RC patients who did not receive preoperative antitumor therapy, among whom 51 had MSI. Radiomics features were extracted and dimensionally reduced from T2-weighted imaging (T2WI), T1-weighted imaging (T1WI), diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), and T1-weighted contrast enhanced (T1CE) images for each patient, and the features of each sequence were combined.

Ovarian cancer is one of the most common gynecological malignant tumors with insidious onset, strong invasiveness, and poor prognosis. Metabolic alteration, particularly aerobic glycolysis, which is tightly regulated by transcription factors, is associated with the malignant behavior of OC. We screened FOXK2 in this study as a key transcription factor that regulates glycolysis in OC.

Polysaccharides are biologically essential macromolecules, widely exist in plants, which are used in food, medicine, bioactives' encapsulation, targeted delivery and other fields. Suitable extraction technology can not only improve the yield, but also regulate the physicochemical, improve the functional property, and is the basis for the research and application of polysaccharide. High pressure (HP) extraction (HPE) induces the breakage of raw material cells and tissues through rapid changes in pressure, increases extraction yield, reduces extraction time, and modifies structure of polysaccharides.

Apart from the canonical serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine [5-HT])-receptor signaling transduction pattern, 5-HT-involved post-translational serotonylation has recently been noted. Here, we report a glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) serotonylation system that promotes the glycolytic metabolism and antitumor immune activity of CD8 T cells. Tissue transglutaminase 2 (TGM2) transfers 5-HT to GAPDH glutamine 262 and catalyzes the serotonylation reaction.

The peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase Pin1 is a pivotal therapeutic target in cancers, but the regulation of Pin1 protein stability is largely unknown. High Pin1 expression is associated with SUMO1-modified protein hypersumoylation in glioma stem cells (GSCs), but the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here we demonstrate that Pin1 is deubiquitinated and stabilized by USP34, which promotes isomerization of the sole SUMO E2 enzyme Ubc9, leading to SUMO1-modified hypersumoylation to support GSC maintenance.
