Mechanical shutdown of battery separators: Silicon anode failure.

The pulverization of silicon (Si) anode materials is recognized as a major cause of their poor cycling performance, yet a mechanistic understanding of this degradation from a full cell perspective remains elusive. Here, we identify an overlooked contributor to Si anode failure: mechanical shutdown of separators. Through mechano-structural characterization of Si full cells, combined with digital-twin simulation, we demonstrate that the volume expansion of Si exerts localized compressive stress on commercial polyethylene separators, leading to pore collapse.

[Peer Review of Teleradiology at a Teleradiology Clinic: Comparison of Unacceptable Diagnosis and Clinically Significant Discrepancy between Radiology Sections and Imaging Modalities].

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the rates of unacceptable diagnosis and clinically significant diagnostic discrepancy in radiology sections and imaging modalities through a peer review of teleradiology.

Materials And Methods: Teleradiology peer reviews in a Korean teleradiology clinic in 2018 and 2019 were included. The peer review scores were classified as acceptable and unacceptable diagnoses and clinically insignificant and significant diagnostic discrepancy.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to show the importance of aneurysmal appearance of medium-sized bronchi observed at CT in the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB).

Conclusion: Aneurysmal appearance of medium-sized bronchi is a CT feature of tuberculosis. In TB-endemic areas, the aneurysmal appearance of medium-sized bronchi at CT may suggest the diagnosis of TB.
