The bone-touching acupuncture method, as one of the five-body acupuncture techniques, is widely used and highly effective in the treatment of brain diseases, though its theoretical foundation has been lacking. This paper explores the close connection between bones and the brain in both physiological and pathological states, as described in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) classics, and explains the "bone-brain axis" concept within the framework of TCM. It summarizes the effects and characteristics of the five-body acupuncture techniques, traces the origins and modern applications of the bone-touching acupuncture method, and discusses its theoretical basis for treating brain diseases.

We report herein that three facile rearrangements of epoxy ketones can be employed for the efficient and practical synthesis of cephalotaxine, the parent member of the family of alkaloids. The Meinwald rearrangement of epoxy ketone (90%) was used for the preparation of the dense functional groups in the cyclopentane ring of cephalotaxine. A novel acid-catalyzed umpolung S2' rearrangement and the Wharton transposition reaction of epoxy ketones were also developed to synthesize the Mori intermediate via the key azaspiro allylic alcohols in a stereodivergent manner.

Small interfering RNA (siRNA) has revolutionised biomedical research and drug development through precise post-transcriptional gene silencing technology. Despite its immense potential, siRNA therapy still faces technical challenges, such as delivery efficiency, targeting specificity, and molecular stability. To address these challenges and facilitate siRNA drug development, we have developed siRNAEfficacyDB, a comprehensive database that integrates experimentally validated siRNA efficacy data.

Background: Cancer is a global public health concern that causes psychosocial and spiritual challenges in those who suffer from it and their family caregivers. Meaning-centered interventions have a positive impact on improving anxiety and depression in patients with advanced cancer. However, the impact of meaning-centered interventions on existential distress of patients with cancer and family caregivers' mental health is still unclear.

The aim of this study was to elucidate the therapeutic effect of simvastatin on experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) by regulating the balance between Th17 and Treg cells in mice. C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into four groups: normal group, EAE group, simvastatin (2 and 10 mg/kg) group, and AG490 group (with AG490 serving as the positive control). Neurological function scores of mice were assessed daily.

Purpose: Epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) is a potential therapeutic target and anchoring molecule for circulating and disseminated tumour cells (CTC/DTC) in liquid biopsy. In this study, we aimed to construct EpCAM-specific immuno-positron emission tomography (immunoPET) imaging probes and assess the diagnostic abilities in preclinical cancer models.

Methods: By engineering six single-domain antibodies (e.

The structure of zwitterion has great impact on the separation properties of zwitterionic hydrophilic stationary phases. To better understand the role of anionic groups of zwitterions, a novel carboxybetaine-based zwitterionic monolithic column was first prepared through thermo-initiated copolymerization of functional monomer (3-acrylamidopropyl)-dimethyl-(2-carboxymethyl) ammonium (CBAA) and crosslinker ethylene dimethacrylate (EDMA) within 100 μm ID capillary. The optimal poly(CBAA-co-EDMA) monolithic column exhibited satisfactory mechanical and chemical stability, good repeatability, high column efficiency (96,000 plates/m), and excellent separation performance for different classes of polar compounds (i.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the impact of exercise training modes on sensory and motor-related cortex excitability using functional near-infrared spectroscopy technology (fNIRS) and reveal specific cortical effects.

Materials And Methods: Twenty participants with no known health conditions took part in a study involving passive, active, and resistance tasks facilitated by an upper-limb robot, using a block design. The participants wore functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) devices throughout the experiment to monitor changes in cortical blood oxygen levels during the tasks.

Background: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are prevalent amongst paediatric patients, and they can lead to emergency department (ED) visits. A subset of patients requires a second ED visit, creating a burden on healthcare resources. This study aimed to shed light on the clinical, laboratory, treatment-related and environmental determinants associated with the recurrence of ED visits in this specific paediatric population.

Excessive carbon dioxide (CO) emissions are one of the main causes of the greenhouse effect. Thermal catalytic reverse water gas shift (RWGS) reaction, which is a pre reaction for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, is considered an effective way to convert CO and synthesize high value-added chemicals in industry. However, traditional thermal catalysis requires a large amount of fossil fuels to drive reactions, which cannot achieve the true goal of carbon neutrality.

Background: Stroke survivors often face challenges in motor learning and motivation during rehabilitation, which can impede their recovery progress. Traditional rehabilitation methods vary in effectiveness, prompting the exploration of novel approaches such as reward strategies. Previous research indicates that rewards can enhance rehabilitation motivation and facilitate motor learning.

Background: Stroke is a devastating disease affecting populations worldwide and is the primary cause of long-term disability. The inflammatory storm plays a crucial role in the progression of stroke. In the acute phase of ischemic stroke, there is a transient increase in anti-inflammatory M2 microglia followed by a rapid decline.

In this study, a novel piperidinium-sulfonate based zwitterionic hydrophilic monolith was prepared through thermally initiated co-polymerization of a piperidinium-sulfonate monomer 3-(4-((methacryloyloxy)methyl)-1-methylpiperidin-1-ium-1-yl)propane-1-sulfonate (MAMMPS), and a hydrophilic crosslinker N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) using n-propanol and HO as porogenic system. Satisfactory mechanical and chemical stabilities, good repeatability and high column efficiency (120,000 N/m) were obtained on the optimal monolith. The resulting poly(MAMMPS-co-MBA) monolith showed a typical HILIC retention behavior over an ACN content range between 5 and 95 %.

Accurately predicting and selecting patients who can benefit from targeted or immunotherapy is crucial for precision therapy. Trophoblast cell surface antigen 2 (Trop2) has been extensively investigated as a pan-cancer biomarker expressed in various tumours and plays a crucial role in tumorigenesis through multiple signalling pathways. Our laboratory successfully developed two Ga-labelled nanobody tracers that can rapidly and specifically target Trop2.

Motor learning is a prominent and extensively studied subject in rehabilitation following various types of neurological disorders. Motor repair and rehabilitation often extend over months and years post-injury with a slow pace of recovery, particularly affecting the fine movements of the distal extremities. This extended period can diminish the motivation and persistence of patients, a facet that has historically been overlooked in motor learning until recent years.

Peripheral nerve injury can cause changes in microglial cells on the spinal dorsal and ventral horns. This region-specific response implies that central microglial cells could be activated through both sensory and motor pathways. In order to further determine how peripheral nerve injury activates central microglial cells through neural pathways, the sciatic nerve was selected as the target for neural tract tracing and demyelination.

Ether-based electrolytes are considered as an ideal electrolyte system for sodium metal batteries (SMBs) due to their superior compatibility with the sodium metal anode (SMA). However, the selection principle of ether solvents and the impact on solid electrolyte interphase formation are still unclear. Herein, we systematically compare the chain ether-based electrolyte and understand the relationship between the solvation structure and the interphasial properties.

After stroke, even high-functioning individuals may experience compromised bimanual coordination and fine motor dexterity, leading to reduced functional independence. Bilateral arm training has been proposed as a promising intervention to address these deficits. However, the neural basis of the impairment of functional fine motor skills and their relationship to bimanual coordination performance in stroke patients remains unclear, limiting the development of more targeted interventions.
