This study aimed to explore how pulsed electric field (PEF) treatment affects the structural, physicochemical, and emulsification properties of porcine-derived myofibrillar proteins (MPs). Increasing PEF treatment induced partial polarization and protein unfolding, resulting in notable denaturation that affected both the secondary and tertiary structures. Visceral artery pseudoaneurysms is a known vascular complication of pancreatitis that can lead to life-threatening hemorrhages with a high mortality rate if left untreated. We present a case of ruptured gastroduodenal artery pseudoaneurysm in a 68-year-old male with acute pancreatitis presenting with fatal gastrointestinal and retroperitoneal bleeding that was successfully managed with endovascular coil embolization of the involved vasculature. Patients with hemorrhagic pancreatitis or those presenting with unexplained retroperitoneal or gastrointestinal bleeding in the setting of pancreatitis with an unexplained drop in hematocrit or sudden expansion of pancreatic fluid collection should be screened in a timely manner for pseudoaneurysm using CT angiogram of the abdomen, which is the gold standard imaging modality to identify pseudoaneurysms.

Lubricant (or oil)-impregnated porous surface has been considered as a promising surface treatment to realize multifunctionality. In this study, silicone oil was impregnated into a hard porous oxide layer created by the plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) of aluminum (Al) alloys. The monolayer of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) from silicone oil is formed on a porous oxide layer; thus, a water-repellent slippery oil-impregnated surface is realized on Al alloy, showing a low contact angle hysteresis of less than 5°.

The forkhead box transcription factor O1 (FoxO1) is expressed ubiquitously throughout the central nervous system, including in astrocytes, the most prevalent glial cell type in the brain. While the role of FoxO1 in hypothalamic neurons in controlling food intake and energy balance is well-established, the contribution of astrocytic FoxO1 in regulating energy homeostasis has not yet been determined. This study evaluates the characteristics of n-3-enriched meat spread that is in development for consumption by elderly individuals. The moisture content of wet-aged pork loin with sonication and gelatin coating was the highest in the G5S sample (5% gelatin coating and sonication), while the moisture content of wet-aged pork loin with sonication was higher than that without sonication.
